365 Days of Anime Characters: Day 49/365 Isamu Alva Dyson
Day 49/365
From the anime Macross Plus, Isamu Alva Dyson is a hot headed First Lieutenant for the UN Spacy. He gets reassigned to the New Edwards Test Flight Center on Planet Eden as the test pilot for the YF-19 because he is reckless in the battlefield. Planet Eden brings back old faces and memories from his childhood that he ends up dealing with all over again.
Why I like him: He is bold and daring. Always willing to take that extra step in order to accomplish his goals whatever they may be. He's a dream boat to look at and loves to chase the ladies with his smooth talk and cockiness.
Why I hate him: While Isamu is generally awesome in pretty much every way to me. I can see how his immaturity at times would drive people bonkers. It did for me at some points but then again, I'm a woman that likes her men immature at times.
Overall: DELICIOUS! Erm... I mean check out Macross Plus if you haven't already. Isamu will not disappoint. Check out ExecutiveOtaku's reviews of episodes One & Two. Be sure to check back for the final 2 episodes as well. Pictures used from ExecutiveOtaku's Macross Plus blog posts.

Isamu’s a fun character thus far, and I think he does something that few characters (or people) manage: he’s full of himself, cocky, and likes to show off but he never comes across as a jerk. Immature, sure, but somehow he’s still likable. He kept his wingman safe in the skirmish in episode 01 and didn’t rub his face in the fact that he’s a better pilot. That stuff only seems to come out with Guld, who kind of provokes him into it. Usually I like the more serious characters in shows, but because he never crosses that line into douchebag territory he was an instant favorite for me.
Cool project you have going on here, btw, with a character a day for a year.
