From the anime Puni Puni Poemy, Futaba is Poemy's classmate and best friend. She just happens to be madly in love with Poemy too. She part of the Aasu sisters which has 7 of them in it. All of the girls have interesting magical powers that they can use for defense only.
Why I like her: I always enjoyed the girl that has a superpower to make everything happy around her. We first meet her sleeping at school before everyone arrives which was hilarious to me. Her cuteness is the best part of her for sure. So adorable.
Why I hate her: While Futaba's lesbian needs were quite hilarious, I was sad that her feelings weren't acknowledged by Poemy very well, if at all. She was so blatantly obvious about it too.
Overall: Parody anime are simply awesome if you like what they are parodying anyway 😛 Futaba is a parody of Tomoyo Daidouji from Cardcaptor Sakura. While I found Tomoyo kinda creepy and not as cute as Futaba, the similarities between the 2 are quite obvious with looks and actions.
From the anime Baccano!, Miria Harvent is the partner and lover of Isaac Dian. They are skilled thieves that often have silly ideas. The biggest oddity between the two of them is that they are immortals since the 1930s.
Why I like her: She has a great love of life and does everything her way. Or more like Isaac's way but I enjoy that of her. She's very energetic and generally that energy rubs off on others around her. If I was an anime character she would be the fun me opposed to my down to earth me from Lain. I make up a lovely combination between these 2 characters.
Why I hate her: The dumb blond part of her is a little annoying but then again I have that part in me too... lol
Overall: Fun and full of entertainment. Miria and her partner Isaac bring a silly yet serious side to the oh so fun anime Baccano!
From the anime Rurouni Kenshin, Sagara Sanosuke becomes a fighter for hire after the destruction of the Sekiho Army which he was part of. On the back of his shirt is the symbol of "aku" which means "evil". He wears it to remind himself of the label the Sekihoutai were given when they were denounced as a false army which is the main reason that he hates government. He was hired to kill Kenshin but ended up being defeated by him. He learned Kenshin's ways. They became best friends and allies.
Why I like him: He's always willing to help in any way he can. He's strong and has a incredible amount of stamina. It takes a lot to take him down. He loves to eat and drink which is always a good trait. He brought a fun yet serious side to Kenshin that we didn't see with other characters. The bond between these 2 men was pretty powerful.
Why I hate him: His stubbornness would get in the way a lot. It's ok to have a lot of pride but don't let it get the better of you.
Overall: For a look of how enemies can become friends the tale of Sagara and Kenshin is truly touching. Sagara brings a lot of amazing fights to the series too. He's just so determined when he fights.
I've been a little slow at getting around to these ones for the season but here they are. If you wish to check out more impressions of spring anime you can go here. I'll be making 2 more posts of impressions so you can look forward to those. Each anime is reviewed on the first 2 episodes of the series.
Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru AKA Betrayal Knows My Name
Yuki has some sort of supernatural power that he can see people's pasts and emotions. He dreams of a past that he was part of quite often and wonders just why he was put in this world because he was abandoned as a child then randomly a man appears claiming to be his brother. Oh the bishie yaoi story is full of fantasy and mystery ain't it. More like teen angst trying to figure out his place in the world. I'll look forward to what will become of little Yuki but I wish it wasn't so slow. It felt like each episode was an hour long and it seems to be trying very hard to be interesting but falls flat right now.
The graphics are very pretty and make the show more interesting than it really is. The OP is well... Emo to me and the ED is just ok.
Mayoi Neko Overrun
The male lead I already want to kill. Did he really have to introduce every character in the show one by one like that in the first episode? Ahh his voice pisses me off too. While I do enjoy the cat aspect of this show and the food, (Both being things I totally love) I can't get over everything else that is so bad. Everything has been done before in this show and well some new stuff do it better some do it worse. This one is definitely doing things worse and reminds me just why I hate harem's so much. Everything is just so generic.
I wish the show focused more on the Stray Cats pastry shop than it does because to me that is the unique part and the most interesting. Harem anime will always be character driven though so we won't see much development in the other aspects of the show. Anyway I don't really have much else to say. Animation is average, OP and ED are forgettable like most from harem anime are. Cat girls are fun.
Sarai-ya Goyou AKA House of Five Leaves
Right away the show dives into the OP and I really enjoyed that. The music mixed with the lovely unique design was very beautiful. We follow Akitsu Masanosuke, a skilled and loyal swordsman but he has just one problem. He's very timid and this gets him fired from many of his protecting jobs. After all you gotta look and be scary in order to protect people right? Lucky him the leader of a bandit group called The Five Leaves hires him to be his bodyguard. But what the leader is of course trying to do is get Akitsu to join The Five Leaves group too. The only problem is that Akitsu isn't quite alright with the groups way of making money. Kidnapping isn't all that noble after all. There's adventure to it and that draws Akitsu to this group I think.
I find this show very refreshing. It's a real down to earth samurai show with mystery and great characters. Even the nobody's in the show seem to have a purpose. I look forward to seeing this story fold out. This is one of the best shows of spring anime for me.
From the anime Alien Nine, Yuri Otani is a simple 12 year old girl that has gotten nominated by her class to protect them from aliens. She luckily isn't alone in protecting the school as 2 others are given this glorious task as well. With some help from the "Borg" aliens who protect their hosts it's sure to get a little hairy at times in school while trying to learn and fight aliens at the same time.
Why I hate her: She's afraid of everything and is one of the biggest crybabies in anime I have ever seen.
Overall: Cute and messed up. What a lovely combination. Yuri might irritate you a little or a lot but it's worth watching for some odd reason.
