365 Days of Anime Characters: Day 344/365 Haydée Tebelin

Day 344/365

Haydée Tebelin

From the anime Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, Haydée Tebelin is a former princess from the planet Janina. Her father was murdered and she and her mother were put into slavery. She is saved by Count and feels indebted to him greatly.

Why I like her: She is like a beautiful flower that you just want to stare at for as long as possible. I loved her devotion to the Count as well. Her lust for revenge was bittersweet. I love that she plays the harp. It's such a simple, yet elegant instrument.

Why I hate her: She seems like she can't do much for herself at times. Sure she is a strong willed girl but her appearance is just so fragile. This is also what attracts me to her though...

Overall: Amazing series that I'll have to read/see all the other works of this story someday.

A worried Haydée...

A sadistically happy Count...

Her harp playing is beautiful.

I love Haydee too. She’s a very beautiful girl, and what a sense in style. The harp fits her too. And I do feel quite sorry for her. Anyway great pick. Oh an I loved the anime!!

As for other versions of The Count of Monte Cristo, may I suggest to you the 2002 movie staring Guy Pearce. I loved that movie. Not as good as the anime, but a great adaptation of the classic novel.

  3. I’ve been meaning to watch this movie for such a long time (and read the novel, for that matter, but it’s so freaking long). It’s even sitting in my house and I haven’t gotten to it yet. I need to do that soon 🙂

The saddest part about Haydee is that in the end, she is more or less used by the Count. Well, at least she had her revenge 🙂

yes her ending was certainly sad to a degree. I thought it fitted her feelings well though.
