chii’s Anime Snack of the Week: Project Blue Earth SOS

Aliens have come to attack earth! OH NOES! Project Blue Earth SOS makes you feel like you are watching one of those old movies where aliens have come to overtake mankind. It has a great retro feel to it along with some great characters and some conspiracies. Go back in time to the 90s and prepare to fight for all humanity!

Positive Points

  • Subbed and hilariously dubbed
  • Wonderful music
  • Awesome characters
  • Fun to watch

I dunno why but this picture amuses me so much

This awesome pooch goes by the name Washington

Negative Points

  • Kinda boring at times
  • Tries to be too technical

This is a really cool shot

Pew pew pew

Rocket's gonna blow

Saucer pew pew power

Why chii thinks you should watch it

Well the first reaction I got from it was Detective Conan but without murders and more so tracking down aliens! It also feels like a very childish Giant Robo. What both anime have in common is that awesome retro feel they both give off and this ova gets it done right. If you are a fan of older movies where aliens have come to take over the Earth this is a must see with a modern twist or 2. Oh and with a character named "Dr. Brest" how can you not want to view it. 😛

#2 way for males to transport females in anime

These 2 love to hate each other

chii’s Anime Snack of the Week: Z-mind

Parody shows are either REALLY funny or completely fail. Some fall in the middle nicely and Z-mind did just that. Mecha parody anime are a favourite of mine so I was excited to take a look at this one that pokes fun at older 70's mecha!

Who's the man in the shadows?

Trench coat hero that's who!

Positive Points

  • Subbed and hilariously dubbed
  • Parody of super robot anime
  • Girls fit for the job

Father drinks A LOT and I don't blame him since he has to deal with these girls

Granny makes all kinds of inappropriate hilarious comments

Negative Points

  • Hit and miss with the laughs
  • Doesn't really end
  • One of the most slow paced action series ever

First encounter with her mecha

He looks pretty sexy

The other girls need their mecha action too

There's a lot of shots of them together like this

HELL YEAH!

Why chii thinks you should watch it

If you have a boner for old mecha this is a must watch for sure. It's very meh on the comedy aspect I found but when the action gets going it's great. The downtimes are a little iffy at most but overall it's quite enjoyable. The characters are very well done even thought they aren't really fleshed out. But because the characters are good this made the slow slice of life parts of the series to be tolerable. The father especially shines during those scenes. I really wish they continued this little project as leaving the series off on a to be continued made me rather sad.

Lets go kick some butt

oh noes! Gay space time flashbacks to Gundam 00... At least they are clothed...

The ass whopping is about to begin

Chii & Kira Anime Watching Club – February 2011 – G-on Riders

So for SOME reason Kira felt that she was wrongly done by with my last pick being Wild 7. I mean come on! It was violent, campy and all that jazz but it wasn't as terrible to sit through as a lot of other things I *could* have picked. So with revenge in mind Kira boldly stated that we should watch G-on Riders... Since you know... She always needs her ecchi fix...

Penis alien I see you

Our 2 strange leads...

G-on Riders is bad. I honestly can't say anything good about it. (I'll try later) It's like a really bad mix of Ichigo 100%, Godannar, and somehow I suppose you could throw Black Heaven in there too. It has pretty much every fetish you can imagine complete with a nun that looks just like Rosette from Chrono Crusade, only she wears glasses. In fact ALL the girls that are fighting these aliens (I dunno...) wear glasses. Thus the name G-on Riders... (Glasses ON! GO!) These super magical glasses are for some reason in the hands of Japan and are the only thing from keeping the people of Japan safe where the rest of the world is apparently taken over and invaded. o.O

Probably the most normal of the girls

Watch out for pervy robots

I think these two were the strangest

And that's about all I have to go on "plot" wise. I honestly couldn't tell you anymore because I think I was knocked unconscious from how bad it was all done that I just don't remember most of it. The characters suck big time unless you just want to look at them nude or something and for that an anime wallpaper image would work just fine. What little males were around ended up sucking too because of with their constant nose bleeds from seeing some T&A here and there. The male lead of course spent the entire series trying to confess his love to the main chick. The added pantsu shots were just annoying to me as well. Hello trying too hard for fanservice much? Isn't bouncy boobs jiggling here and there good enough? They reused an awful lot of scenes over and over again too. Doesn't help that the art is plain butt ugly too.

Weeeeeee

Yup... Happens a lot...

Good thing he had a hanky

I haven't felt this much hatred for a show in quite sometime. In my hate-o-meter I would put this in between Green Green and Yumeria. It wasn't so bad that I had to drop it like Green Green but it did make me angrier than Yumeria... At least Yumeria had a "decent" enough shitty plot but makes up for that with its shit characters. I shall not start ranting about Yumeria here though...

I kinda like this shot because of how strange it is

This always happens at a bath house...

I wouldn't know neither are MY fetishes...

I suppose the ONE thing that I'll give credit to this terrible anime would be the fetish appeal. There's something for everyone in this! Well maybe not since all the girls wear glasses and I suppose some people out there wouldn't like that. But it's got a lot of other stuff. The nun, the maid, the catgirl, the shrine maiden, the loli,  the school girl, the nurse, and of course they all get to be magical girls while they are sporting their fetish appeal. There might be more in there but these are the ones I can remember. It's just really too bad that something more awesome wasn't done with this idea. For being a parody anime it certainly failed at what parody is set out to do which is to make people laugh! I didn't laugh once honestly. Maybe my funny bone was broken that night but I have a feeling it wasn't me and more so just this terrible anime being oh so terrible!

One can only guess what she's gonna pull out of there. And why is the BOTTOM of the watermelon nomnomed?

Look it's Multi from To Heart!

Overall I really suggest NOT watching this anime... But sadly I think that since I wrote how terrible my experience was with it that some of you will want to waste some, or most of your braincells on it anyway... If it wasn't because of Kira I probably would have stopped watching this shit.

I don't even understand how or why this happened...

The nun has dirty thoughts about being de-flowered

* Story 0/10
* Animation .5/10
* Sound .5/10
* Characters .5/10
* Overall 1/10

This sums up my thoughts on the anime very well...

Lets see if it was worth it for the "revenge" for Kira to make us watch this total crap.

~A Look at Anime to Come~ Spring 2011

I rather like the circle and have a legend attached to it way of doing these posts, so that's what I'll be doing from now on. So here's yet another one of Scamp's charts modified to suit my needs.

Click image to actually read it.

I'll never include any ova's or movies in these posts because they are just so random and a pain in the ass to keep track of for the one person in probably a thousand that would care. Yet again I chopped off 2 of the bottom anime that were kiddy ones that no one will care about. Hilariously enough I actually enjoy Cardfight Vanguard from last season that I did the same thing to. I decided to add in an extra category for those anime that I just don't care about one way or another. I'm hoping a few of these will end up in my "like" category after viewing.

I'm looking forward to 10 anime that will be airing which I find a little dull with over 40 new listings. They are mostly season 2's since we have a lot of those this spring, 8 of them in total and 5 of them are must watches for me. Gintama being the #1 that I can't wait for among the sequels. Kaiji is a very close second. For original anime it's totally Toriko. I LOVE the ova to bits and I almost went and started reading the manga because of how awesome those 30 minutes were. Also I don't care what anyone says, X-Men WILL be awesome! Hyouge Mono I'm super interested in but I can't really explain why other than I like the era and the proposed characters.

The noitaminA block looks interesting but I don't wanna get my hopes up for it like I did with Winter. Both anime could honestly go either way for me and like always I'm hoping for in the "like" direction. Deadman Wonderland I've seen a lot of hype and praise for it so I'm hoping it's not all just talk there.

The facepalm award goes to Lotte no Omocha. Semen and lolis... Opposed to Seikon no Qwaser where it's breast milk, so suppose I shouldn't talk but... I'll take the mature boobs over young girls drinking magical youth making semen... I mean I kinda like the idea but I don't like that the girl is 10 years old.

I might actually just watch only the "must watches" for me and the of interest ones making the total 16. I always try to tell myself to save everything else for when they are finished airing. But that'll probably fail like always and I'll watch it all in one go as they air. I will admit that over 40 new current airing anime does scare me to try and keep up with so maybe my only watch those 16 anime goal will work this time around.

Ah well, here's to another season!

~

EDIT: I'm going to try my hand at blogging Toriko each week. Maybe this time I'll get past the first episode XD

chii’s Anime Snack of the Week: Kiddy Grade Movies

When I first dove into this series a few years ago I was skeptical of many things. After viewing it, it became a favourite sci-fi of mine with some very kick ass girls. I had been meaning to watch these 3 Kiddy Grade Movies for quite some time now and a few weeks ago I did just that. It was a wonderful experience. How can I say no to space traveling girls that have amazing super powers?

Welcome to work!

Missions missions lalalalala

Positive Points

  • Condensed version of the show
  • So very pretty
  • Makes the series a little more serious than the show did at first
  • Super fun characters

Lumière's powers are awesome

Donnerschlag and Éclair fight well together

Negative Points

  • Might not understand everything because things are explained rather quickly
  • Not a lot of character back story for anyone other than Éclair and Lumière

A-ou and Un-ou

Cesario and Viola

Sinistra and Dextera

Tweedledee and Tweedledum

Why chii thinks you should watch it

I think if you have seen the series already it's a great refresher of all the important stuff that went down. If you are a first time viewer it probably would be enjoyable if you want short and sweet but I really do think that you'd get more enjoyment out of it by watching the series first. My experience having watched the series first and many years later watching these movies was quite positive and I'm sure others would agree. Especially since you get all the awesome action in the movies made to look even prettier than they were in the series. At 3, hour and a half movies, they cover the series pretty darn good in my opinion.

The masks make them extra evil

A slightly new look for our girls

Earth looks really pretty from space

The man behind it all
