Make chii Laugh
I'm a pretty picky person when it comes to what makes me laugh but the following I can't sit through without cracking a smile or having to pause because I'm laughing way too hard. Here are my top 15 comedy anime!
- Hare+Guu
- Gintama
- Strawberry Marshmallow
- Astro Fighter Sunred
- Yakitate!! Japan
- Detroit Metal City
- Cromartie High School
- Excel Saga + Puni Puni Poemy
- Arakawa Under the Bridge
- Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu
- Minami-ke
- Hetalia
- Kyoran Kazoku Nikki
- Legend of Koizumi
- Ryofuko-chan
Bonus anime is Kuruneko! It's 2 minute shorts, it's about cats, it's HILARIOUS! Especially if you REALLY like cats.
Clearly I like a lot of slapstick humour and really out there stuff. Hare+Guu was so strange half the time I didn't even understand why it was funny but that it just was! A brilliant weird comedy that totally deserves to be at the top of my list. Gintama makes fun of everything, has a super cast, and is really well written. Strawberry Marshmallow to this day I will always re-watch episode 6. IT NEVER GETS OLD! Yes, even I can like school slice of life comedies. Astro Fighter Sunred combines superheros that suck with wonderful monsters and has cooking lessons in some episodes! The lessons might be simple sure, but it's the hilarious thought that counts. Who would have thought an anime about BREAD would be so hilarious. Yup Yakitate!! Japan yet again combines comedy and food, 2 things that go together very well.
Detroit Metal City won me over with its way out there crudeness, yet it has a wonderful soft side to it that the main protagonist does perfectly. Who would have thought you could tame your inner beast and let it out through music! Cromartie High School is about many strange boy delinquents gathered in one school. They sometimes don't quite know what being a delinquent is all about. Simply hilarious! Excel Saga + Puni Puni Poemy are both wacky and rely on being super random. You'll be laughing or holding your head because of how hyper it is. Arakawa Under the Bridge combines a lot of strange people and tosses a seemingly ordinary man right in the middle of the weirdos. Like Gintama it is very well written and has an amazing cast to back it up. Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu is a random comedy right in the middle of the FMP series, that is quite series for the majority of the time. I personally think people should watch Fumoffu after the first series to really get a good laugh out of it. You'll want your very own Bonta-kun after viewing.
Minami-ke follows 3 sisters as they go through school and the strange situations they get into. Yet another slice of school life comedy I like! It had a lovely charm to it because they aren't all the same age so we get a lot of different kind of jokes. Hetalia is personified countries of the world. That's just too good for me not to find hilarious. (BL Pairings aside XD) Kyoran Kazoku Nikki takes 8 very VERY different "people" and turns them into one great big random messed up family. Darkness lurks around every corner for each character but aside from that very hilarious. Legend of Koizumi was just wow. They took Hetalia in a totally different direction that turned out to be intense but it a very good and funny way. Ryofuko-chan is a knock off of Romance of the Three Kingdoms which I'm very much a fan of. They took my favourite character, Lu Bu, and turned him into a young girl that REALLY likes breasts! It was just way too funny for me to handle at times.
So there you have it! My favourite comedies! If you know of something that I should love and haven't watched please do suggest it. I love to laugh!

chii Finally Made One!
Favourites are a great thing. What makes these shows mine is that I think about them very often when I'm thinking about anime and wish to watch them more than once. Some of them I've already watched 5+ times. To be a favourite they also must be entertaining as a whole series. So if they have season 2's or more, I should have loved them just as much as their season one. Everything on the list below applies! I've been meaning to make this kind of list for many years now and I've finally sat down and mulled through all my anime titles and picked these 100 to be my absolute favourites.
Like digitalboy I'll be updating this list regularly from now on but not once a month. I will only update when I feel an anime has stood up to my standards to break into this 100 anime list. I will keep a list at the bottom of this page which of which anime has moved in and which it has kicked out. I doubt that it'll happen very often but time will tell. Check out my Does Not Want List for a taste of my dislikes.

Tuesday Tally Week 1 Starto! January 1-10
So honestly upon thinking about this project more I REALLY should have started it when I started my blog. It would have been amazing to been able to have seen my stats from last year but oh well. I can do it for this year though so starting fresh is best here! I started off my year in a house somewhere in the middle of Vermont nothingness. I had a great time and oddly was able to watch 30+ episodes of anime while surrounded by rambunctious friends.
January 1-3
Kuragehime ep 11 END
Overall: It was rather unfulfilling first episode of the year but I still love this series to bits even if the last episode was lackluster. I really hope we see another season of this show someday because I think it was brilliant and really funny. We need some darn closure too! Don't make me go read the darn manga, but oh wait... That's not even finished either!!! It all makes sense now!
Winter Sonata ALL
Overall: If you love your drama to keep coming over and over again before you can take a deep breath this show is for you. It's a lovely Korean made anime that is beautiful to look at and it'll make you fall in love with all characters. Starts off with the character as children and they GROW up! I love anime that do this so I was taken with Winter Sonata in a heartbeat. 8/10
Heroic Age episodes 1-6
Overall: Great start to this series honestly. I've been craving a great space opera anime for quite sometime now and this certainly wet my lips.
Arakawa episodes 12-13
Overall: Very interesting and fun way to end the series. I'm still not sure what's up with it but I hope we'll see more someday. I love everyone that lives under that bridge!
January 4
Gintama episodes 1-17 (re-watch)
Overall: It's good to finally get around to this wonderful series. I'm starting from scratch again because I'm watching it with my boyfriend and it'll be more fun that way. He's loving it so far and I'm getting more out of it funny wise a second time around for sure.
Heroic Age ep 7-18
Rio: Rainbow Gate episode 1 was watched as well but I'll talk about that more in a Winter Season Start Review post coming up soon.
January 5
Gintama episodes 18-28 (re-watch)
Overall: This batch holds some of my most favourite episodes. The tranny episodes were just awesome and the epic meat battle will never get old no matter how many times I watch it.
Kimi ni Todoke episode 00
Overall: Did we really need this kind of episode?
Starry Sky episode 2
Heroic Age episodes 19-26 END
Overall: I'm honestly still putting my thoughts together on this one. I'll definitely need a re-watch of it at some point too. I really, really loved it but it's hard to explain why. It has a lot to do with it being a Sci-Fi SPACE show with kick ass "mecha" like creatures. I enjoyed the music and animation a lot and the OP and ED were great. All the characters were liked except for the twins... I don't understand too much why they had to be the comic relief but there they were! Great show and I highly recommend! 9/10
January 6
Gintama episodes 29-36 (re-watch)
Naruto Special
Overall: It was a boring fight. I did enjoy that it was 6 minutes or whatever compared to the 10+ episodes it took in the actual series.
Gundam 00 Movie Trailblazer Crap
Overall: Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhg.... Was a great way to start off my "Snack of the Week" project though!
January 7
Gintama episodes 37-43 (re-watch)
Starry Sky episode 3
Overall: This show is fucking SO ugly.
Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls Special 2
Overall: Kissing guide! lol...
Infinite Stratos, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Yumekui Merry, Gosick episode 1 was watched for all but once again more details will be included in the Winter Season Start Review post coming up soon.
January 8
Gundam Seed episodes 16-19
Overall: It certainly was an emotional few episodes. I'm not liking this sand arc too much but I'm told that it's not all that bad so here's to hoping! Episode 19 at the very end made me a little sad for Sai honestly because everything has just gone to shit for the poor guy. *shakes her fist at Flay*
Gintama episodes 44-51 (re-watch)
Overall: Episode 50 has been one of the best episodes yet. It has about a million different parodies and references in it which was highly amusing. This show just rocks so hard!
Attraction Studio 4°C Short
Overall: This is all about not smoking. As weird as it is, it is also very interesting. Especially since you can actually interact with the show but only 4 times and it just involves clicking where they tell you to and wiggling the mouse back and forth. I highly suggest you check it out if you are a fan of Studio 4°C.
Cardfight!! Vanguard, Freezing, Oniichan Crap, Beelzebub episode 1 was watched for all but once again more details will be included in the Winter Season Start Review post coming up soon.
Finished the Manga Brother
Overall: I didn't like how they kept telling the situation at the beginning of every fucking chapter. That was super annoying because it was rather short being only 2 volumes. I thought that the younger brother looking older than the real older one was just weird. 18-23 years old were the siblings which was a little odd at times. The sex was pretty darn hot though! Only check it out if you aren't afraid of yummy man sex! XD
January 9
Gintama episodes 52-54 (re-watch)
Trigun: Badlands Rumble Movie
Overall: Very much <3 I'll gush about it more for this weeks Snack.
January 10
Gintama episodes 55-61
Dragon Crisis, Kore wa Zombie desu ka, Wolverine, Mitsudomoe episode 1 was watched for all but once again more details will be included in the Winter Season Start Review post coming up soon.
Level E episode 1
Overall: I picked a GREAT anime to episodically blog about this winter season.

Episode Count: 138 + 3 Specials + 2 Movies

Review of 2010 Anime Part 4 ~Fall~
Fall has proven once again to be a very enjoyable season. Having so many shows airing certainly helps. I always feel a little overwhelmed with Fall and Spring anime wise though because there is just so much to check out.
The only 2 shows I didn't start were To Love-Ru and Pokemon. The first because I just haven't watched the season one of and honestly I have no real desire to watch it. It doesn't look like the type of show that I would enjoy in the slightest. The second being Pokemon well... I'm working on it very, very slowly with my Pokemon workout. I'm totally going to be starting that back up again come January.
I'm glad that I enjoyed this season a lot. There are only 5 shows that are under 5 out of 10 rating wise. I think that's pretty darn good out of 25 shows. I'm sad that it does hold the worst show of 2010 for me though. It would have held the best show as well but honestly Katanagatari is a pretty darn good pick for my 2010 best overall.
Best Show of fall for me aside from that adorable little dinosaurs would be Kuragehime. Every character was simply awesome. I'm completely in love with everything about this show it's impossible just to pick one moment.
Worst Show of fall for me without a doubt is Yosuga no Sora, actually no I'll make that one the worst overall for 2010. So next in line for fall is Fortune Arterial. Did anyone honestly even watch this show and enjoy it? Granted I didn't keep up with any chatter about it.
Here's my big list of Best to Worst shows of fall 2010:
- Kuragehime 10/10
- Omae Umasou da na 10/10
- Arakawa Under the Bridge 9/10
- Sora no Otoshimono 9/10
- Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto (still airing) 8/10
- Bakuman (still airing) 8/10
- Letter Bee (still airing) 8/10
- Otome Youkai Zakuro 8/10
- Ironman 8/10
- Shinryaku! Ika Musume 7/10
- Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru 7/10
- A Certain Magical Index (still airing) 7/10
- Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai 7/10
- Super Robot Wars: Original Generation (still airing) 7/10
- Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls 7/10
- Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt 6/10
- Yumeiro Patissiere 6/10
- Togainu no Chi 6/10
- Hakuouki 6/10
- Psychic Detective Yakumo 6/10
- The World God Only Knows 4/10
- Tantei Opera Milky Holmes 4/10
- MM! 2/10
- Fortune Arterial 2/10
- Yosuga no Sora 1/10
Surprise enjoyment: Bakuman I personally can't believe I'm enjoying as much as I am. It's slow, slice of school life, and about making manga. I have pretty much NO interest in any of these subjects. Not to mention the romance thrown in here and there. So what keeps me watching and not bored to tears like most people with it by now? I honestly am not sure. I've just been really liking it. I think it heavily has to do with the characters though because they are just all amazing.
Surprise fail: Psychic Detective Yakumo not so much a surprise as a disappointment. I watched the first episode like everyone else and had the grrr reaction to it. The very end held my interest but it still failed. This show made me very sad because I was so looking forward to it.
Honorable mentions: Omae Umasou da na DINOSAUR! Enough said. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt I didn't enjoy for the most part but I give credit where credit is due generally and it certainly deserves some of that. It was totally unique in a strange and odd kind of way. Yumeiro Patissiere what kind of ending was THAT?! I'm still very angry that they changed the OP from the amazing fluffy macaroon song to the shitty who know what OP. Don't get me started on the lame ending. They should have just kept going with the other series or nothing at all. This is why I generally hate shoujo!
OP 1
OP 2
Thanks for reading!

Review of 2010 Anime Part 2 ~Spring~
Like always there was a lot of shows to watch in spring. 24 shows aired and out of that I watched 21. (Well 20 see below) Sometimes the amount scares me that I'm able to keep up with. Thankfully there were a handful of treasures in spring that I was highly looking forward to. There were 6 season "2" shows airing and I watched half of those. Here we go with Spring's Aired Anime.
Only Ikkitousen, Major and Jewelpet weren't watched due to all being related to series I haven't even touched yet. I actually can't wait to get my hands on Ikkitousen. I know it's a boob filled, poorly adapted, Romance of the Three Kingdoms knock off but the fan inside me tells me I must watch it at some point. Now that all has aired I think I'll tackle it for next year. Major I'm still afraid of since it's about baseball... Which is funny cause the S2 of Ookiku Furikabutte aired as well which I enjoyed a great deal.
I've always enjoyed spring because there's always plenty of shows to sink my teeth into. Amazingly all are finished airing but 2. SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors and Hime Chen! Otogi Chikku Idol Lilpri. Long titles are long but worth sitting down and watching if you A: Like the idea of Gundam chibis being ROTK characters or B: Like magical girls who sing. I obviously am in love with SD Gundam way more than Lilpri but both are pretty awesome watches.
Best Show of spring for me was House of Five Leaves. I looked forward to a new episode every week. I drooled over the OP and the art just about made me cum in my pants. It was a lovely slow show about an adorable shy samurai with his bandit buddies. SO GOOD. I gotta re-watch and review it to gush more because it deserves more love.
Worst Show of spring for me aside from Kiss x Sis because I dropped that show like a smelly cat shit down the toilet... Anyway the worst show was Angel Beats. I tried REALLY hard to like it but KEY... I fucking hate you KEY. They can't do anything right. I vowed not to watch anymore of their crap releases ever again but I made an exception for this one because it wasn't made from a VN. It was new but still failed prey to the usual crap KEY puts out. >.<
Here's my big list of Best to Worst shows of spring 2010:
- House of Five Leaves 10/10
- SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors (still airing) 10/10
- Arakawa Under the Bridge 9/10
- Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin 9/10
- Senkou no Night Raid 8/10
- Tatami Galaxy 8/10
- Giant Killing 7/10
- Ookiku Furikabutte 7/10
- Koihime Musou 7/10
- Working 7/10
- Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan 6/10
- Hime Chen! Otogi Chikku Idol Lilpri (still airing) 5/10
- Kaichou wa Maid-sama 5/10
- Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou 4/10
- K-On 4/10
- Heroman 4/10
- B Gata H Kei 3/10
- Mayoi Neko Overrun 3/10
- Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru 3/10
- Angel Beats 2/10
- Kiss x Sis (DROPPED) 1/10
Surprise enjoyment: Giant Killing is about soccer... I'm not a sports person let along a soccer one but this one grabbed me. It wasn't the sport it's self but more so the characters striving for their dreams. It was great fun reading both Shinmaru and Emperor J posts on this wonderful show.
Surprise fail: Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru... I hate "yaoi" series that are like this. All the drama with none of the meat to back it up. I'll stick with those weird yaoi ova's that come out every now and then. At least I get to see sex there.
Honorable mentions: Rainbow started off very rough and tough. The imagery alone was enough to make you wanna cry. It was a really dark anime about boys sent to prison and how insane it was in there for them. It got more uplifting by the end of the series but still kicked you in the balls every chance it got. Heroman... Just exactly what was that? Senkou no Night Raid everyone dismissed after the first episode. But honestly I thought it was great!
