Tuesday Tally Week 2-4 Oi! January 11-31
So yeah the goal was to do this every week no matter what... BUT of course things just get in the way now and then and it was impossible for me to do for 3 weeks... The good news is that I didn't overly watch a lot of anime in those 3 weeks. Uncharacteristic like for me but real life just stepped in for the month and everything was pushed back anime blog wise. Although the title mark in this post looks huge it was mostly just small ova's and movies. I've gotten back into my anime mood over the last few days so I think things are back to normal!
January 11-16
Trigun Movie re-watch x2
Overall: I actually watched it 3 times total now since it came out. I find it very fun to watch and my second viewing was with other bloggers over Skype. Interesting to see others reactions to it. Too bad I had to leave half way through the viewing.
Gintama episodes 62-86
Overall: Episode 79 with the toilet paper crisis is probably my favourite episode of Gintama of all. It just makes me laugh a hell of a lot! It is also time since I've reached episode 86 that I am not re-watching episodes anymore and from now on every Gintama episode will be new to me.
Starry Sky episode 4
Overall: These voices don't match these douches at all. I can't stand it. I'm considering dropping it at this point.
Kamichu episodes 1-5
Overall: Kamichu is the first title I decided to watch that I haven't seen yet from digitalboy's top 100 list. It has a very slow start so I'm afraid that I won't end up enjoying it as much as I had hoped. 4 20:22
Final Fantasy Legend Of The Crystals OVA
Overall: Each episode takes a look at one of the 4 crystals. I can't say it adds anything to Final Fantasy in general but it was a fun watch. ep 2 7:00
Gintama episodes 87-88
Wandering Son, Kimi ni Todoke, and Fractale episode 1 was watched. Thoughts on these are here. I watched 7 episode 2's for some of the current airing anime too, but nothing worth mentioning since I can't really remember anything from them and didn't take proper notes.
Finished the Manga Love Stalking
Overall: This is a short smutty manga where each chapter (there's 4) follows a girl and her strange love life at the time. I enjoyed the sexy parts and only one of the stories so this gets a 5/10. The title doesn't make much sense either since only one of the stories involved stalking...
January 17-25
Koe de Oshigoto! re-watch
Overall: This is one funny ova about a high school girl who decides to learn how to become an eroge voice actress.
Gundam Seed episodes 20-25
Level E episode 2
Overall: I'm suppose to be episodically blogging this series but... Yeah... I'll do a batch episode release this week hopefully and get back on track. Simply loving this series though!
Gintama episodes 89-90
Finished the Manga Your Color
Overall: Really short yuri manga that doesn't really go anywhere 5/10.
Finished the Manga Koi wa Tenka no Mawarimono - Ikenai Candy Love
Overall: Meet a really shy quiet working girl who is about to loose her job. She happens to see a higher up getting a blow job in the alley way and things start to pick up for her from that point on. This manga actually has 4 other stories in it (I think) but only this one has been translated. I shall be eagerly awaiting the others in hopes that they were as good as this one was! 9/10 easily.
Finished the Manga Naughty Honey
Overall: 6/10 I don't have much else to say about it honestly...
Finished the Manga Girlfriend
Overall: Another compilation manga showing off girls and their loves. Some are good most are rather meh. 2 of them actually ended up intertwining story wise which I found to be most interesting. I feel that my 7/10 is generous but I did enjoy the ones I found that were good very much.
January 26-27
Andersen Douwa - Ningyo Hime Movie
Overall: Lets just say that this does not have a Disney's happy ending. Pretty good watch even though I viewed it over youtube.
Zenryoku Usagi episode 39
Twelve Months Movie
Overall: I had heard great things about this movie from a friend and it didn't disappoint! It was a fun story about a Cinderella type girl who was used and abused by her adoptive mother and sister. Sent out on new years eve to gather a basket full of flowers for the spoiled rotten Queen that is no older than a girl because she offered a basked full of gold coins. The poor freezing girl luckily ends up meeting some mysterious men who happen to represent the 12 months of the year! Since this girl is so kind they help her out with the gathering of these flowers due to their magical powers. Also viewed over youtube.
Gag Manga Biyori Jump Festa
Yumeiro Patissiere OVA
Overall: This was one strange little ova since it made me think of perverted things when it totally shouldn't have. The rest of the series wasn't like that so why do it in the OVA?!
Cool Cool Bye OVA
Suteneko Tora-chan Movie
Overall: This adorable cat themed 1947 movie short is great. It's like a cat opera which I found most amusing.
Noel's Fantastic Trip Movie
Overall: The name says it all in this case. You really do feel like you should be tripping over some drug to find it enjoyable. With it's pretty bad looks and terrible singing I recommend passing this one up for sure.
January 28
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Parallel Works
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Superman Legend OVA
Overall: Random last minute pick for my Snack of the Week.
Megane na Kanojo OVA
Overall: Each episode follows a girl who wears glasses. It's short and sweet. It definitely could do with more stories as these ones were fun.
Yuri Seijin Naoko-san OVA
Overall: Meet an alien girl who is obsessed with human little girls. Yup this one is for the yuri loving lolicons out there.
Aki Sora: Yume no Naka OVA
Overall: Watch this as a soft core hentai only. Do not expect a mind blowing plot.
Crimson Wolf OVA
Overall: This ova ended up being really awesome. I mean it wasn't anything special but it certainly did what it set out to do. The poor girl that was in this almost never wore any clothing. She was either in the shower being attacked or clothing was being ripped off. Not to mention the numerous times she wore just a man's shirt. Hell she was even naked in flashbacks!
Black Lagoon OVA episode 3
Overall: The action certainly was more pleasing from the lack of it in episode 2. My Chang got pretty sassy with Rock over the phone which I found to be most amusing. The head maid that the little master has been trying to find shows an interesting side that he just isn't ready to deal with. I honestly was a little shocked by her actions too.
Gintama episodes 91-94
January 29
Kamichu episodes 6-16
Overall: With the super slow start I complained about earlier in the month I was rewarded when episode 8 came around. It revolved around a cat world fight club parody. It was the most interesting cute thing I had seen in quite some time. Especially since the leader cat was appropriately called Tyler. From that episode onward the time flew by and before I knew it, it was over. I was rewarded with a great ending that I really loved and won me over completely for the show. Someday I'll have to give it a proper blog post but for now this will do. I see why it is on digitalboy's top 100 list and I approve ^_^
Shin Koihime Musou OVA and Live
Overall: Yet another fun filled ova enters this franchise. It wasn't anything special but it was still fun. What was really odd was the Live. It was some of the girls singing tracks from the anime in a concert setting. Quite bizarre honestly.
Abunai Sisters episodes 1-2 ongoing? OVA
Overall: w...t....f...
Bungaku Shoujo Memoire OVA
Overall: After watching the movie with some skepticism on my part and ended up enjoying it I certainly looked forward to this ova. Each episode can be watched as a stand alone but none really left an impression on me except for the 2nd one. It was really depressing and heavy on the drama.
Prefectural Earth Defense Force OVA
Overall: This is a delightful parody anime where people get turned into cyborgs and they must fight the evil Telegraph Pole Society. With a description like that what's not to like!
January 30
Riki-Oh OVA
Overall: I first watched the live action movie with my boyfriend several years ago. It was bad but so bad in the way that it was great entertainment. I expected pretty much the same from the ova and that's what I got. I really wish that ova 2 was available somewhere.
Mirai Nikki OVA
Overall: This seems like a Death Note but slightly less serious as it has turned into a game of sorts among kids. If it ever turns into a series it could be interesting but I won't have high hopes for it as this ova was pretty average.
Prism Mergical: Prism Generations OVA
Overall: Well... The only thing I can say about this magical girl show is that it was only 15 minutes of my life... I did enjoy seeing a magical boy though.
Quiz Magic Academy OVA 2
Overall: I never actually thought a second ova would come out of this considering that it's first one was rather mediocre. Sadly the mediocrity didn't leave and I was still left wondering why it was made. Not a terrible watch by any means though. Think of it along the lines of Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu.
Hiyokoi OVA
Overall: Is an ova about a really shy short girl that gets seated beside a really tall loud boy. It's short and rather cute. I'd watch the series of this if they ever made one. It could rival Toradora in my opinion.
Gintama episodes 95-99
Overall: The Shinsengumi arc is super duper awesome. It rivals the more serious Naruto and Bleach ones for sure!
Wild 7 OVA
Overall: This was my pick for the Chii & Kira Anime Watching Club. I haven't finished my review of it yet but lets just say it's completely opposite of what Kira thought about it. Check out her review while you wait for mine!
Koi Suru Boukun OVA
Overall: I hated this yaoi ova with a passion. It takes a lot for me to hate on a yaoi generally but this one was just downright bad. I'll take less rape in my boy love shows thank you very much. This show should probably go on my does not want list. >.<
January 31
Gintama episodes 100-105
Licca-chan Fushigi na Mahou no Ring OVA
Dragon's Heaven OVA
Overall: Words can't really describe how this ova started off. It was basically a real mecha model just being shown off. Very strange. Once the real ova starts you are graced with what I think is one of the worst looking ova's ever. From what I've seen only California Crisis can rival it's shitty looks. Then again both are pretty shitty story wise too...
Saishuu Shiken Kujira Progressive OVA
Overall: This is actually a 12 episode 5 minute series to begin with. Generally I don't watch the ova's of these kind of shows before actually viewing the show but for some reason I viewed this. It isn't a bad tale of magic sick girl meets a boy and tries to have a normal life for once but it's not something I'm going to remember next year.

Episode Count: 80 + 26 Specials/OVAs + 6 Movies

Tuesday Tally Week 4
This Tuesday Tally is more like Monster and Ika week this time around. I'm not sure about that match up honestly. All I know is that I was watching both with the boyfriend so that's probably what influenced my choice of Ika to watch in between Monster batches. Anime watching these days have been falling pray to Final Fantasy VI. I love these games and it's about time I catch up on them. I'm loving it so far and the story is pretty darn awesome.
November 30 to December 6

Leave it to me to find something just a little yaoi about Monster. Although honestly... It isn't all that hard.
Tuesday:
Monster ep 4-26
Overall: During episode 12 things started to become interesting. Which I'm thankful for because 74 episodes at a slow pace is just painful. My boyfriend compared Monster to The Fugitive quite often and I completely agree with him there. I dig the oldies songs that are played in the series but they weird me out at the same time since I know them all very well and can sing along. I also just realized that the ED credits have rainbow colours. For some reason I find this very fascinating. We watched a recap episode after episode 24 and I kinda wish I had just watched that for the first 24 episodes.
Ika ep 8
Overall: Shrimp costume!
Wednesday:
Monster ep 27-53
Overall: The new ED I do not like as much as the old one. In fact it made me quite sad that the old one went away because it is really so awesome. This one sounds like a creepy old lady singing that wants to murder children... That last part just might be my crazy imagination though. I do however really like how the ED's show pictures from that storybook. Good call by whoever did that little extra bit. I've noticed that there is a lot of close ups of people eating food. I think I just pick up on some of the strangest things sometimes. Totally saw the cross-dressing coming since you know he has a girl twin. Episodes 46, 49, and 53 were some of the best stuff I've seen so far. Simply amazing. I've noticed that there seems to be, for me at least, about 10-12 boring episodes followed by 10-12 amazing episodes and rinse and repeat.
Ika ep 9
Overall: Lip stick on young girls is just wrong. Something about it puts me off. Those scientists were just hilarious.
Thursday:
Monster ep 54-end
Overall: Monster is a pretty amazing series when it's actually doing something with the plot. The slow pointless episodes were around too often for my likes and I just didn't see the point of most of them. I still can't quite grasp fully how I even feel about the series honestly. The last few episodes left me feeling pretty awesome about the whole thing. I can't really explain why I feel the way I do about the series or even really understand fully what I feel about it. This is why I think I'll need to re-watch this show once more to really get everything in my head the way I want it to be. All the characters were amazingly done and I have no real complaints there. They were real people with pretty real intense problems. Inspector Heinrich & Wolfgang Grimmer are by far my favourite characters in the series. Both their endings were amazing. Monster will sit at 8/10 for now.
Friday:
Final Fantasy VI time!
Saturday:
A-LI-CE Movie Re-watch with Kira for our chii and Kira anime watching club. Still 2/10 -.-
Sunday - Monday
Final Fantasy VI time!
Overall: FUN! ^_^ Also, I can't take Kefka seriously as a bad guy at all. XD

A Canadians first trip to Anime Boston
So I decided to go to this con at the very beginning of the year. We have friends that live in Boston so I figured it would be a lot of fun to visit them and go to a con other than Anime North. (which is the only other con I have been to) I gotta say I was highly impressed with Anime Boston and I do plan to attend again next year. Anime Boston 2010 was held on April 2-4. I'm aware that it's been a while but I've been busy since I got back with real life situations that has delayed my post a little. (ok a lot)
We drove down from Quebec, Canada on the 1st as we wanted to get settled in a head of time and enjoy in full what the weekend had to offer. Long car rides kill my back as well so having a day to rest before trying to marathon walk for a weekend was much needed. After it all, I was nice and sore for a week after but it was worth it. We had lovely weather while we were down there too which was nice because apparently it had been raining for a solid 2 weeks before we got there. Boston drivers will always scare me. Learn how to drive please! Unlike Anime North, everything at Anime Boston was in one building that you could easily walk from one place to the other. I REALLY liked this aspect of it as I saw way more things that I wanted to because I could find where everything was easily. The building seemed to go on forever. There was a lot of walking done.
I meet the author of The Anime Almanac and he was really nice. He introduced me to some others that he knew but I completely forget their names. I saw the author of JanaiBlog from a distance because I was too shy to go up and say hi the first time I saw him (sitting in the moe panel of course) and he left early when I was going to say hi to him after the FUNimation Industry Panel. Which was a very interesting panel to attend. I ended up going to a lot more panels than I thought I would but I gotta say all were really fun. There was a manga panel with one of the weirdest guys running it and I always wanted to argue with his points because for the most part he was way off. One of the best panels I attended was done by The Department of Alchemy called Impact of Evangelion. I meet him too but said nothing other than 'hi nice panels this weekend.' And basically ran away afterwards, I'm a really shy person heh.
The highlight of the con was a performance by the Video Game Orchestra! This alone was worth all the money spent in getting to Boston for the con. Another highlight of the con was the guest of honour Nobuo Uematsu. We attended every panel he was doing and it highly inspired my boyfriend to continue what he loves doing and that's making music. He even played with the VGO when they were preforming! The most memorable things he said was the answer to this question. "How did you come up with the opening theme to Final Fantasy?" His answer was that one of the guys came to him at the last minute and said we need a little diddy for the opening of the game. Can you do one please? He of course said ok and wrote a little tune in literally 5 minutes and it has become one of the most well known songs ever among video game players. I also enjoyed his response to "What was your first instrument?" He said it was the guitar and later he picked up the piano and said they are basically the same cords/notes wise but the piano is easier to use so he prefers it. LOL awesome! Here's the video we took of him playing with the VGO. (sorry about the sound quality)
Saturday night we ventured into the "rave" and I gotta say that was entertaining and fun. There was some pretty crazy stuff going on in there and the DJ was pretty awesome too. I'm generally not one for "8-bit" music but it was fun to hear and see everyone having a really good time. The only thing that wasn't so cool was seeing all the cracked out kids sitting on the floor outside of the entrance. LOL We got a really fun little video here of some kind of robot surfing the crowd. (again sorry about the sound quality)
The cosplay was like any others honestly. There was some really amazing ones and some not so amazing. I took some pictures but most didn't turn out very well so I'll link to a thread on the AB site that has a lot more pictures than I could have ever provided for those that are interested. I did cosplay myself but it wasn't 100% and honestly I just didn't have the money to get my hair done the right way. It's not like anyone would have recognized me anyway. I went as Nanako Yamamoto from Hanamaru Youchien and my boyfriend went as Naozumi Tsuchida. I made the aprons myself and I personally think they turned out really well.
The dealers room was about what I expected it to be. It was split into 2 rooms that were joined in the middle by a hallway. I was impressed at how much stuff there was but I honestly didn't see a lot of really amazing deals. I didn't end up getting anything because we ended up spending our money on parking. We drove there each day from just outside of downtown. I suggest not doing this and using public transit or walking if you can. Hell, get dropped off and picked up at the end of the day if you can. The parking costs were stupid but couldn't be avoided on this trip for us. Next year we shall be better prepared for that.
Anyway there's my review. Better late than never! Next up is Anime North in pretty much 2 weeks. I promise to have my report from that up way sooner than this one ended up being. Overall this was a very enjoyable experience and I'm sure I'll be back next year. ^__^

365 Days of Anime Characters: Day 93/365 Kaze
Day 93/365
From the anime Final Fantasy Unlimited, Kaze is a mysterious man who has lost all his memories from his past except for that he fought a man named Makenshi and he must seek revenge. He generally comes in the nick of time to defeat monsters that appear around the children Ai, Yu, and their guardian in this world Lisa.
Why I like him: The gun on his arm which fires summons when loaded with special bullets is REALLY cool. I also enjoy the eternal quest for revenge that he seeks. Generally this is kinda a lame plot but I like it!
Why I hate him: His cold boring personality is just boring to me.
Overall: Not the best Final Fantasy installment but still worth watching if you are a huge fan of the franchise. The following video is a clip of Kaze loading his Magun which we get to see almost every episode in the same way.

The Most Anime Birthday I’ve Ever Had
So on the 16th of January it was my birthday and I wasn't expecting anything at all to be honest. Really just expected a quiet day alone with anime and my boyfriend. We started out by watching Naruto for about 6 hours. LOL that's right Naruto on my birthday. I don't even overly enjoy the show (don't hate it either) but my boyfriend likes it a lot. I made a post about it here. I haven't been wanting to watch anymore Naruto since then either haha.
I made my character of the day post about my favourite anime character ever, Yang Wen-li. <3 (great picture from ghostlightning's blog) He's super awesome and I hope more people watch Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I actually plan on re-watching it sometime. Probably not this year though unless I manage to get through more of my other anime goals. Mononoke, Kaiba, My-Hime (plus all relations), Simoun (all enjoyed by me!) and started Naruto is all I've done so far off of that list. I'm going to start watching Nodame Cantabile very soon because of the current airing Finale. I plan on making February Macross month. So expect a lot of Macross posts in the near future.
Anywho back to the birthday. After all that Naruto and blogging I went to sleep. Woke up to someone at the door. It was a friend from Montreal that my boyfriend invited down to celebrate with us which was a super awesome surprise because he brought beer and gifts.
So after bumming around for the day at home we went out to a nice Thai dinner where another friend from the area meet us. She brought a lovely bottle of wine as a gift to me that was literally dressed in jeans. Has a cute pocket and everything.
After that delicious dinner we returned home to watch some movies and open presents
I went to the computer to check my e-mail and messages only to have all the lights turned off and people started singing "Happy Birthday" and a cake entered the room. This cake right away made me laugh. I'm a weird gal so I expect weird when it comes to gifts and whatnot. This cake had what looked like a dead clown on the top made of bright icing. LOL
We moved to the kitchen to slice up that cake and start on gifts. Took some silly pictures of the slicing action as well hehe. First I opened my friend from Montreal's gift. It turned out to be a book. But not just any book. An anime book! More specifically "Manga: The Complete Guide" by Jason Thompson, published at the end of 2007 so it isn't even that much out of date. It's super awesome as well because this book will help me with my manga goal for this year to read more than just one shots. It tells all sorts of information about over 900 different series.
Then it was time to open my boyfriends gifts. He had 2 bags of stuff that I wasn't expecting. First bag had some awesome chocolate and random pocky that he actually found at the local grocery store. There was some delicious port in there as well and a hilarious CSI Miami card with Horatio Caine on it (points to the wine bottle picture) and he says something about looks (it was a talking card). Very hilarious. After giggling over the card for a while, I opened the second bag and this is where things got totally awesome.
Inside there was a green box. The same green box that comes from a local store around here. In the past I have gotten sheep (I have a sheep figurine collection) from this store in said box, so obviously I was expecting another sheep treasure to add to the sheep masses (there's more where those come from).
Boy was I wrong. Inside there were 9 little Hetalia mini figures
. I love this show to bits and was super excited. These are my first figures EVER haha. They came with flattened boxes that my boyfriend took out and showed me right away, along with one bigger box, also flattened. Sure I have anime posters, some manga, and dvd's but I never ventured into the figure part of my anime obsession because, well, I just don't have that much money kicking around.
He then showed me another little bag that was filled with more little figures. They are all Final Fantasy characters that he said came with the deal he found wherever he got them. Now FF isn't exactly anime but having little figures of these characters is just as awesome as anime because FF is awesome. They also came with an awesome engrish message that had a little sun magnet attached to it made out of wood. Very random lol.
So now I have all these little Hetalia guys staring at me surrounding my computer screen. We put the FF characters downstairs in the studio where a lot of other strange oddities surround them. This was the most anime oriented birthday for me ever. Generally it's only me getting anime goodies for myself but I think that more and more of my friends are starting to understand my small little fandom world of anime.
After this wonderful day I managed to catch a terrible cold that knocked me out for a whole week which is why all you saw was character posts last week. I feel kinda bad about that as it is so early on in blogging journey but well... these things happen. At least I was conscious enough to do my characters. I'm feeling "better" now and back to doing what I love. Writing, chatting, and watching lots of anime.
(P.S. I know I suck at taking pictures
