Here's a delicious spooky holiday treat! Happy Halloween!
Which anime is that delicious dish from? The latest ova from the Minami-ke series. 3 sisters and their friends have so much fun together.
What is that delicious dish? Pumpkin spiced muffin with chocolate on top and a lovely brew of chai tea.
How do I make that delicious dish?
The Muffin: Honestly the muffin in the picture could be ANY flavour of muffin but I choose pumpkin because of the time of year it is at the moment. It helps that there's a spooky pumpkin face on it too! Recipe makes around 12 muffins.
- 1 and 3/4 cup Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon Ginger Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
- Pinch of Salt
- 2 Eggs
- 3/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 cup Pumpkin Puree
- 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a bowl mix: flour, baking soda, baking powder, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and salt.
In a separate large bowl mix: pumpkin puree, sugar, vegetable oil, vanilla, and eggs.
Stir flour mixture into the pumpkin mixture until smooth then you are ready to put the batter into your muffin cups. Filling halfway up to the top will do or 3/4. Depends on how much you want your muffin to rise over the top of the cup.
Bake for 20 minutes or until you can place a toothpick in the middle of one and it comes out clean.
Note: You can add in nuts or raisins of your choice if desired, half a cup will do.
The Tea: Any kind of tea you prefer will do.
- 1 cup of Water
- 1 Tea of your choice (bagged or loose)
Boil water, stick your tea bag or loose leaves in and let steep for as long as you desire.
Note: Loose tea tastes the best.
- Simply place a muffin on a plate! Tea in your favourite cup! VOILA!
Note: To make a face on the muffin top just melt some chocolate and have fun with the design.
If you have a picture of some yummy anime food you think I could re-create send a message or leave a comment. Which anime the picture is from would help me greatly along with the episode number it is featured in.
Minami-ke is about 3 awesome wacky sisters who live their lives as normal as strange people can.
I'll start left with the left, Chiaki's uniform is a cute red plaid skirt. Sadly she wears a school sweater pale pink in colour which I can't stand. I do love her white shirt with the shoestring bow tie though. She's not wearing it in this picture but she gets to wear a really cute dark red hat as well. I much prefer if she didn't wear her sweater all the time and stuck with the nice off white jacket instead. It's a perfect uniform for a young girl.
Kana's uniform in the middle is a simple red skirt with a sailor suit styled top. The biggest difference of a typical sailor top is that her bow tie is like Chiaki's, a shoestring tie. Very lovely and fits well with a middle school girl.
Haruka's uniform surprise surprise is the perfect uniform for the oldest of the sisters. A simple blue skirt and jacket. She wears a sweater from time to time I'm not too fond of which is a very light brown with a slightly darker trim to it. I do like the flashy red tie she gets to wear though. Makes her stand out even more than she already does from her younger siblings.
I guess I should say a little something about the boy uniforms. They are plain and just like every other school boy uniform. All black. For the most part though when the boys are around they aren't wearing their jacket. It's still pretty boring but typical. The boys that are Haruka's age get to wear that lovely blue instead of the black which is nice.
Overall: I'd wear Chiaki's skirt with Kana's shirt and Haruka's jacket!
I'm a pretty picky person when it comes to what makes me laugh but the following I can't sit through without cracking a smile or having to pause because I'm laughing way too hard. Here are my top 15 comedy anime!
- Strawberry Marshmallow
- Astro Fighter Sunred
- Yakitate!! Japan
- Detroit Metal City
- Cromartie High School
- Excel Saga + Puni Puni Poemy
- Arakawa Under the Bridge
- Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu
- Kyoran Kazoku Nikki
- Legend of Koizumi
Bonus anime is Kuruneko! It's 2 minute shorts, it's about cats, it's HILARIOUS! Especially if you REALLY like cats.
Clearly I like a lot of slapstick humour and really out there stuff. Hare+Guu was so strange half the time I didn't even understand why it was funny but that it just was! A brilliant weird comedy that totally deserves to be at the top of my list. Gintama makes fun of everything, has a super cast, and is really well written. Strawberry Marshmallow to this day I will always re-watch episode 6. IT NEVER GETS OLD! Yes, even I can like school slice of life comedies. Astro Fighter Sunred combines superheros that suck with wonderful monsters and has cooking lessons in some episodes! The lessons might be simple sure, but it's the hilarious thought that counts. Who would have thought an anime about BREAD would be so hilarious. Yup Yakitate!! Japan yet again combines comedy and food, 2 things that go together very well.
Detroit Metal City won me over with its way out there crudeness, yet it has a wonderful soft side to it that the main protagonist does perfectly. Who would have thought you could tame your inner beast and let it out through music! Cromartie High School is about many strange boy delinquents gathered in one school. They sometimes don't quite know what being a delinquent is all about. Simply hilarious! Excel Saga + Puni Puni Poemy are both wacky and rely on being super random. You'll be laughing or holding your head because of how hyper it is. Arakawa Under the Bridge combines a lot of strange people and tosses a seemingly ordinary man right in the middle of the weirdos. Like Gintama it is very well written and has an amazing cast to back it up. Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu is a random comedy right in the middle of the FMP series, that is quite series for the majority of the time. I personally think people should watch Fumoffu after the first series to really get a good laugh out of it. You'll want your very own Bonta-kun after viewing.
Minami-ke follows 3 sisters as they go through school and the strange situations they get into. Yet another slice of school life comedy I like! It had a lovely charm to it because they aren't all the same age so we get a lot of different kind of jokes. Hetalia is personified countries of the world. That's just too good for me not to find hilarious. (BL Pairings aside XD) Kyoran Kazoku Nikki takes 8 very VERY different "people" and turns them into one great big random messed up family. Darkness lurks around every corner for each character but aside from that very hilarious. Legend of Koizumi was just wow. They took Hetalia in a totally different direction that turned out to be intense but it a very good and funny way. Ryofuko-chan is a knock off of Romance of the Three Kingdoms which I'm very much a fan of. They took my favourite character, Lu Bu, and turned him into a young girl that REALLY likes breasts! It was just way too funny for me to handle at times.
So there you have it! My favourite comedies! If you know of something that I should love and haven't watched please do suggest it. I love to laugh!
From the anime Minami-ke, Kana Minami is the middle sister of the 3 Minami sisters. She is in her second year of junior-high school. She is a happy crazy girl that just wants to have fun even if she sucks at school and gets bad grades. Kana contains the kanji for summer which is a common theme among the girls as Haruka is spring and Chiaki is autumn.
Why I like her: She is full of energy and excitement in everything she does. Everything she does is hilarious to me.
Why I hate her: Sometimes she takes her jokes too far and ends up hurting the person. Chiaki is generally the target of this because she is the youngest sister.
Overall: Slice of life has to be REALLY funny for me to enjoy it. Kana adds so many hilarious moments to this anime for me that it makes it a favourite easily for my slice of life watches.
The third and last installment of my decades list brings us to the Series of 2000-2009. The Series were very difficult to choose from and it was very hard to even pick an order (Don't take the ordering of these series to seriously) let alone limit it to a top 50. So I did 60 instead! XD
Lots of other bloggers have already put up their lists and you can find them all listed over on Kitsune's page. Check them out! There's a lot of great lists to be had for all those list crazy people!
