Review of 2011 Anime Part 1 ~Winter~
This winter we got 20 shows. Quite a bit more from last years 12 or so. All shows that aired were watched. There are a few ova's that I didn't pick up but that's not an issue since they are related to series I haven't seen yet. Everyone should know by now that I make it a yearly goal to watch all anime that airs in the year. I've been doing that for the last 3 years. I find it pretty fun and it makes these posts awesome. Anyway onward with winter aired anime!
Winter is either really fun or kind of meh. Unlike the last 2 years this year I didn't get a 10/10 anime that aired which I found a little weird because pretty much every season I get one of those... "Everyone's" top anime of the year/decade came out. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica was fun but I just couldn't get into it as much as everyone else. I do however love Kyubey very very much. I'd make a contract! /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
Suite Pretty Cure has jumped to the top of the pretty cure franchise for me. It's quite awesome and exceeded my high expectations that Heartcatch created. I only hope that the upcoming Smile can match the awesomeness that has become Pretty Cure! <3 Siren!
Best Show of winter is Level E. It did wonderful things in a hilarious way. I laughed a lot. I only wish that it could have been longer. It needed just a little extra bit of something to be amazing. All the characters were really great. The show almost seemed like it was a parody of sorts for Men in Black since it was about aliens on earth but no one else knows about them.
Worst Show of winter is without a doubt is the oh so terrible Onii-chan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne... So bad that most people watched this show with sccsav while drinking because that was the only possible way to get through this show. Unless you are me of course! Everything about this show is offensive...
Here's my big list of Best to Worst shows of winter 2011:
- Level E 8/10
- Suite Pretty Cure 8/10
- Wolverine 8/10
- Fractale 8/10
- Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica 7/10
- Beelzebub (still airing) 7/10
- Gosick 7/10
- Kore wa Zombie desu ka? 7/10
- Supernatural The Animation 7/10
- Kimi ni Todoke 7/10
- Dream Eater Merry 6/10
- Freezing 6/10
- Mitsudomoe 5/10
- Cardfight!! Vanguard (still airing) 5/10
- Infinite Stratos 5/10
- Rio: Rainbow Gate 5/10
- Wandering Son 4/10
- Dragon Crisis 3/10
- Starry Sky 2/10
- Onii-chan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne 1/10

Surprise enjoyment: Supernatural The Animation was quite enjoyable. It probably helps a lot that I haven't seen the American show it originally is. I really like that ED. Beelzebub started off pretty weak but after a while I sank in and started to really like the characters.
Surprise fail: Gosick I honestly expected much more from. Sure it has a pass rating from me but I really just wanted to be wow'd by it and that never happened.
Honorable mentions: Rio: Rainbow Gate! Sharks, Gambling, and boobs! Fractale is a show everyone hated on but I still got a lot of enjoyment out of it regardless. Wolverine was super fun and Landon agrees! Wandering Son is my most hated noitaminA show. The only one I hate actually. Which is hilarious because everyone loves it.

On the Seventh Day of Christmas My True Love Gave to Me: Seven Franchise Continuations
On the Seventh Day of Christmas My True Love Gave to Me,
Seven Franchise Continuations,
Six Top Tier Anime,
Five Nyanpire Kitties,
Four Marvel Anime,
Three Teachers,
Two Anime Buddy Challenges,
and an Underrated Anime
I love it when anime just keeps going and going. Or in some cases gets an update from old to new. Or when we get a new universe with things we are already familiar with! New twists and turns are fun and all of these titles were pleasing in some way or another. Some more so than others...
#1 Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing
Another story from one of my top 100 anime? HELL YES. I was afraid it wouldn't live up to my expectations but it has delivered! How can I hate a show that has a shout out to hockey!
#2 Fate/Zero
I've always been a fan of the Fate series. I haven't played it but I don't really have the time to get sucked into it either. I'd probably never be heard from again or something! Zero has rebooted the Fate series going back to the last war before Night. I'm enjoying it so much and I know I'm not alone.
#3 Suite Pretty Cure
My favourite of all the Pretty Cure series so far. It made me remember the first Pretty Cure anime and ended up making it so much better. I was expecting the worst with music being it's main theme but I've been delightfully surprised on how awesome it is. Looking forward to the next one!
#4 Gundam Age
Most people wrote this Gundam off before it even started stating it was going to be too "kiddy" I've gotten nothing but pure enjoyment out of the next Gundam installment. I think I'm just really glad I have a space show to look forward to every week for the next year or so.
#5 Dororon Enma-kun Meeramera
A new and updated version of Dororon Enma-kun and having not seen the first one makes me want to watch it even more after this fun show.
#6 Blood-C
This was summers so bad it's good anime. There was never a moment where I wasn't laughing at how silly the whole show was.
#7 Appleseed XIII
I love Appleseed and all but... No one likes this show. It's amazing that a sub group is still doing it. Slowly, but it'll get done.

Tuesday Tally Week 5-8 End of Year
I didn't forget about this! I just got so busy for December that there was no time to do one. So This one will be short and simple. The list consists of a lot of fall anime and since I already talked about those in my 2010 Fall Review post there is no point talking further about them here unless I have a special moment I wish to share. So here's some fun pictures from everything I watched over the month of December and a little bit of talking in between! I'll be starting the next Tuesday Tally from January 1st onward. I think this is the best way to start off the new year since it'll be way more fun of keeping track of ALL the anime I have consumed in a whole year by starting fresh!
Week 5 I started off with some Not so Secret Santa picks so Black Heaven, NightWalker, Hitohira, and Shion no Oh were watched.
Melody of Oblivion episodes 9-11 were watched and it's still pretty @.@
I watched some anime with the Skype anime viewing group for the first time and ended up sitting through Amagami SS episode 23, episode 4 of Tamayura and Kuragehime episode 8 I watched once on my own and once with the group. Overall that was a fun first experience but hope to do shows I actually care about in the future and that I haven't viewed already.
The rest was just Fall airing anime that ended up having nothing worthy of a mention.
Week 6 Starts off with more current airing anime but I shall only talk about Bleach from that. WE SAW GINS EYES! That is all...
I also re-started Gundam Seed this week and got through 7 episodes. The first time I watched episode 7 I was pissed at the end of it and this time around I felt even more rage oddly enough!
Yosuga no Sora episode 11 deserves a moment here. Sora, Haru, Sora, Haru, Sora, Haru, Sora, Haru, Sora, Haru... Urgg this show is pure crap.
My last Not so Secret Santa anime, Akagi was started. I got through 12 episodes before friends arrived for the week.
Week 7 I finished off Akagi very slowly but got it done before I posted about it on the designated day.
More anime group blogger watches started happening around Christmas time and what better show to pick than the happy go lucky Gundam 0080! This was a re-watch and honestly I was glad to watch it along side some super Gundam fans out there. I didn't like the OVA the first time around watching it on my own but with this re-watch I certainly appreciate it even more now. Those hamburgers were delicious!
Katanagatari episode 12 I finally got around to and lets just say. BEST ANIME OF 2010! More random fall airing anime episodes were watched.
In order to complete my anime goals for 2010 Shiki needed to be restarted since I had pretty much dropped it at episode 10 for being super lame and boring to no end. Man am I ever glad I picked it back up again. Episodes 11-13 were rather dull but gaining re-interest and when episode 14 hit I was hooked. I ended up watching it none stop all the way to episode 21 and ended up eagerly waiting for the final episode to air on new years eve. The end episode was something...
More weird Melody Of Oblivion was watched and it's still very @.@
Week 8 I decided to finish off straggler anime before I left for new years. So that meant picking up the Spring old K-on II. All I can honestly say is blaaaaaaaaa BUT I did find it hilarious that the bf was interested in it but ONLY because they had actual sponsored instruments in the show and he liked that.
Star Driver and Bakuman were caught up with from episode 9-13 for both. I gotta say I've completely enjoying these 2 series even though the majority of people aren't.
For some reason I watched episodes 1-3 of Haiyoru! Nyaru-ani: Remember My Love(craft-sensei). But then again I know I only watched it because I watched the other 2 minute 9 episodes of Haiyoru! Nyaru-Ani before. These ones are only 4 minutes now so no brain damage occurred.
Starry Sky episode 1... Theres a lot of stars in the sky! The lead boys mom looks like she is his age which is a tad disturbing. But not as disturbing as his SUPER girly looking dad.The art honestly looks like they just took the manga and coloured in the pictures poorly.
Melody of Oblivion was finished off and honestly... I still have no idea what I watched... I didn't hate it though that much is known.
Samurai Girls I started from episode 6 straight onto 12. I wouldn't have enjoyed it so much if I didn't watch it in one scoop like this. The art is definitely something to marvel at though.
Gundam Seed episodes 11-15 were watched and they are all new ones for me now. I don't have much to say about it at this point but I did enjoy the odd kind of recap in episode 14 showing the gundam models as a report.
Winter Sonata I had started back in 2009 but subs were slow so I stalled it. Since I wanted some fun anime to bring with me on my new years trip I figured it was the most logical choice. After all I consider anime I actually want to watch fun anime even if the subject at hand is pretty darn harsh and dramatic. Which Winter Sonata will throw at you many many times. I only watched episode 0 which is basically a long plot episode and then the first episode of the series. I had seen both before but watching them again as a refresher was good for me.
Pretty Cure's magical silhouette sequence is awesome... Just sayin...
December was a busy month but was fun! Lots of anime watched and many more to come!

~A Look at Anime to Come~ Winter 2011
Here's a totally lazy picture post from Scamp's chart with my picks circled. (Although considering I had to tag the post with all this anime it sure didn't feel lazy at all...)
Click image to actually read it.
(Yay Paint!)
I didn't include any OVA's, specials or any of that stuff. I honestly don't understand why people get so excited about those series as much as they do. The air dates are so random/spread apart that it's hard to care a lot about them until they are completely finished and actually available. That just might be my point of view on the matter though... I really don't like waiting around for episode 2 to come out 6+++ months later...
I also skipped out on 2 kiddy shows (Cardfight Vanguard and Usagigoya) that are at the bottom of the original chart. No one really cares about those 2 anime anyway.
11 out of 20 anime in this list are ones I'm looking forward so that'll be fun. Sad that 9 of those don't look so good to me but I'm sure one or 2 among those titles will shine through to enjoyment for me.
The 2 anime I'm most looking forward to are Level E and Wolverine. I hope they live up to what I want them to. Ironman didn't disappoint me so I don't think Wolverine will either.
The anime I facepalm at the most that will be airing is Oniichan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne AKA I Don't Like You at All, Big Brother! It feels like they are trying to take Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai AKA My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute (long titles are long...) and turn it into incest... Which to be honest is what a lot of people want from OreNo Imouto... We'll see if it holds out though. I don't have high hopes for it at all.

365 Days of Anime Characters: Day 70/365 Nagisa Misumi
Day 70/365
From the anime Pretty Cure plus Pretty Cure Max Heart, Nagisa Misumi AKA Cure Black is a hyper school girl that plays for the lacrosse team. When she is transformed into Cure Black she is the strong one of the two but clearly needs the help of Cure White, Honoka Yukishiro, to defeat their enemies as she can't do it alone.
Why I like her: Untransformed she's a girly girl who dreams of boys, fashion, and has a lot of stuffed animals. In her Cure form she's strong and willing to do whatever it takes to vanquish the bad guys.
Why I hate her: She can be overpowering and super bossy/moody. Her and Honoka get into a few fights because of these traits.
Overall: For a magical girl she is pretty interesting.
