Like every year Spring gave us more anime we knew what to do with! Unlike winter I actually watched everything as it aired. Save for those kiddy shows that I'm not following being Bakugan, Inazuma Eleven, Jewelpet, and Metal Fight Beyblade. Saint Seiya had another season but since I haven't seen any of that franchise to begin with that wasn't watched either. A season 2 of Pretty Rhythm aired but since season 1 isn't even finished being subbed that wasn't watched. When subs appear I'll watch it for sure since I'm enjoying season 1 of it alright.
Some short anime called Koi-ken aired but I haven't even seen raws for this appear. I'm ok with that since it apparently is based on a popular dating sim which I'm so not all about. Space Battleship Yamato 2199 looks interesting but I'd prefer to watch the first stuff for that before jumping into something new. Ozma I didn't watch because I want to do some fun stuff with the Leijiverse stuff eventually.
There was actually very few shows that I didn't enjoy watching this time around. The amount of great shows to choose from was just that good! Even the shitty shows had a few good things to offer so I can't complain about them too much either. I still wish more people would watch Gon...
Best Show of spring is SO hard to choose but I'm going to go with Space Brothers for sure. Honestly if it wasn't for that cat anime I'm blogging it surely would have been #1 of 2012! SPACE!!! Polar Bear Cafe is a super close second for spring too.
Worst Show of spring is Natsuiro Kiseki because while it had an interesting enough idea, cute girls doing stuff just doesn't do it for me in a drama setting.

Surprise enjoyment: Ginga e Kickoff!! is a children's soccer show that should be watched by everyone! Mysterious Girlfriend X is a romance anime that I had no hopes for going in but ended up being one of the best romantic anime I've ever seen. Acchi Kocchi had great winter episodes which surprised me.
Surprise fail: Medaka Box ended up being quite lacking... I'll have more to say about it in the fall review.
Honorable mentions: Arashi no Yoru ni I'd like to see more of honestly. Lupin III ~Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna BOOBS! AKB0048 is fun but still lacking in awesomeness for me but at least there's a lot of SPACE! Shining Hearts has one of the most hilarious ED's ever! Eureka Seven Ao is finished finished now right?
I couldn't resist watching the spring season like I did for the winter season so I'll give some first impressions on all I've watched.
Gakkatsu - Made a post about it!
Shiba Inuko-san - A strange one about a girl who is a dog yet goes to school like a normal person. I'll give it a few more episodes before I choose weather I want to blog it or not. I'm sure I'll end up doing something with it.
Yurumates 3D - I actually expected this to be a full on series not a short episodes one because there are already 2 ova's of it. Can't say this will get better with time.
Recorder to Randoseru 2 - Picks up right where S1 left off. (Did anyone aside from this person and me watch it?) This show is silly pandering to both girls and boys. I oddly find it quite amusing.
Kuromajo-san ga Tooru - Meh not very interesting since I can barely remember what it was about. I just remember it was too long being at 7 minutes... Which you know... Is never good for a short episode series to give an impression of.
Fate/Zero - Picked up right where season 1 left off. It's good to have it back~
Kimi to Boku - More boys and cats. Can't go wrong here in my opinion~
Kore wa Zombie desu ka? - Yet another that picked up right where season 1 left off. This first episode even felt like the first episode of season 1.
Phi Brain - Again, picked up right where season 1 left off. I look forward to my weekly dose of puzzles~
Saki - So the mahjong girls are back. I'll watch it because I watched S1 but I'm going to expect the same results as S1... Meh.
Queen's Blade - This first episode kicked off with a booty-licious pirate babe! I was amused. Good to have Queen's Blade back for my weekly dose of awesome boobs and hilarity!
I've kept up with Cardfight!! Vanguard but haven't watched any of the S2 yet. I will watch it though as I've become fond of the show somehow... Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream has slow subs but they are getting there so I'll wait till I can finish S1 before diving into S2. Jewelpet S4 I have no interest in due to not having seen any of the other seasons of this show. I kinda want to but I'll wait till season 1 appears. There's a bunch of other kiddy anime airing as well of course but I don't keep up with them either.
Continuations of franchises
Eureka Seven - Now I'm not the hugest fan of Eureka Seven but I highly enjoyed this first episode. I really think that old dude with the glasses is pretty darn hot too. I hope this one exceeds my low expectations for the franchise.
Haiyoru - This had a short episode series made so I wasn't expecting to like the full anime as much as I did. Somehow they improved on the shitty little short and made it watchable. I can't say that I believe the series will stay this way though. I give it 3 more episodes before it suffers the same fate as the short episode series.
Lupin III - A series focusing on Fujiko? Fuck yes! And I wasn't shocked or offended by the amount of boobs that was in this either unlike most people. I mean really... It's about Fujiko!
SD Naruto Rock Lee - Worst than I thought it was going to be... Which wasn't good to start with. I'm sad that the bf actually liked it...
Arashi no Yoru ni - I love this movie to bits. This series weirds me out a bit due to the English cast and the CG but I think I'll get over it. Mei has something weird going on as well that I hope to get over as time goes on. Overall though it was a fun watch.
The only one I'm not watching since I haven't seen any of the series at all is Saint Seiya. Maybe I'll get around to it at a later point this year but I'm actually not counting on that. It is however a series I really do want to watch sooner than later so... Eventually!
Expect at least 3 more posts with all the other new NEW anime first episode impressions within the next few days. ^__^
Like this winter I'm only going to watch season continuations and wait till everything else has finished airing. I will be picking a few that I feel I will like to keep up with though. This brings my total up quite a lot from 6 shows in winter. I dropped 2 of those to watch at a later date because after 2 episodes they just weren't doing it for me. Another and Mouretsu Pirates will be better off marathoned, I hope... All the others keep pleasing me greatly. Especially Poyopoyo!
Since Spring is a busy time of year anime wise my total jumps from 4 watching titles in winter to 11 new titles for spring! For a full list of anime going to air click here and here. I won't be picking up any new anime to blog because I think I still have my hands full with what my current plans are. (Like always)
Eureka Seven is getting another season focusing on another young boy. I wasn't a huge fan of the first show but it did have some really great moments and when some characters weren't being annoying great characters too. Hilariously enough I'm excited for more Queen's Blade! Gotta love big busty ladies fighting among each other for an awesome title!
Haiyore is finally getting a full anime. They made a lot of shorts for it that's for sure so I knew it was only going to be a matter of time before it got a full series. Can't say I care about it though because the shorts didn't do it for me. So when I'm not pleased with the shorts it's generally a no brainer that I won't care about the full version. Arashi no Yoru Ni I can't believe is getting a full anime. The movie was great but thinking that this series is going to span 52 episodes is just odd to me. I doubt anyone will want to sub all of it anyway.
Season 2's: Fate/Zero (YAY!!!) Kimi to Boku (more boys being cute for another season) Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka? (S1 was entertaining enough to get me to want to watch a S2) Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle (This is a very fun shounen show about solving puzzles. It's kind of a sleeper hit imo since it's getting another season and all) Saki (Girls playing boardgames... I was meh for the first one but meh enough to want to watch another season of it. I love boardgames!) Yuru Yuri (YAY!!!)
The only new anime I'm looking forward to is Space Brothers. I'm expecting something more awesome than Planetes. Now you might be thinking "Planetes is the best! Nothing can beat it!" or "Man if you weren't swooned with the anime read the manga!" 1. It's hard to get me to read manga and 2. I'm a strange person when it comes to me and SPACE stuff I like. It's pretty random actually. Something has to set me off in order to REALLY enjoy it for it's spacey goodness! This is partially why I'm not too pleased with Mouretsu Pirates.
There's a few others I have my eyes on that people have been talking about. Like this Mysterious Girlfriend X. It doesn't look like my kind of thing but it could be good. Hiiro no Kakera to girly it up because Hakuouki Hekketsuroku didn't do it enough for me. Dusk Maiden of Amnesia could be good but I have a feeling it will go the Gosick route for me. Kingdom looks like it will be right up my alley but I have suspicions that it might not get subs anytime soon. I'll wait and see what happens if I'll pick any of these up.
From the anime Arashi no Yoru Ni, Gabu is a wolf! One stormy night he wanders into a barn to take shelter from the rain. In there he meets another creature. They keep each other company for the night and form a strong bond. Little do they know they are suppose to be sworn enemies.
Why I like him: The strength of friendship means a lot to Gabu and he goes to great lengths to find happiness with his new friend Mei, a goat. The wolf pack lead by Giro will stop at nothing to prevent this friendship and Gabu stands up to them with great courage.
Why I hate him: As most wolves tend to have a dark side to them, Gabu's wasn't all that appealing to me.
Overall: It's a cliche story sure but this one captured me and I hope you'll give it the chance to capture you as well.
The second installment of my decades list brings us to Movies of 2000-2009. The Movies were a lot easier to do than the OVA's. At first it came out to 19 so it was very easy to pick just one more to make it an even 20. The ordering was pretty easy as well I found.
Lots of other bloggers have already put up their lists and you can find them all listed over on Kitsune's page. Check them out! There's a lot of great lists to be had for all those list crazy people! Also don't forget to check out my OVA's list if you missed it.
Ok, here we go with the movies!
20.) Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie 2: The Sealed Card (2000) - Now don't take this as I'm a CCS fan girl. Far from it. I just thought this movie was the best the entire series had to offer. It actually ended and actually made me care about the characters. Something that the series couldn't do.
19.) Arashi no Yoru Ni (2005) -Sure it's your typical, wolf meets goat story and they become friends. They get shunned by their own kind and then bad things start to happen. There is a nice message within this movie and it should not be missed because of animal protagonists.
18.) Kakurenbo: Hide & Seek (2004) - This short horror flick was actually successful in being pretty creepy. Which I find amazing as most anime in the horror genre aren't all that scary. With the cold dark animation and the chilling sound. This movie is sure to make you rethink what may be around that dark corner in the night.
17.) Nasu: Suitcase no Wataridori (2007) -An amazing follow up to Summer in Andalusia. Throws in more jokes and continues to shine right where the 1st one left off with a whole new setting yet the very same goal.
16.) Interstella 5555 - The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem (2003) - Daft punk animated in space. Hell yes. Awesome music, entertaining visuals. Nothing more needs to be said.
15.) Kino's Journey: Life Goes On (2005) - After sitting through all of Kino's Journey it left me asking a lot of questions and wanting to know more about Kino in general. This movie gave me exactly what I was looking for. A great background story about Kino when she first started out with her adventurous ways.
14.) Howl's Moving Castle (2004) - This is one of my all time favourite Ghibli movies. Such wondrous adventures await these spectacular characters. With magical encounters at every turn this movie does not disappoint.
13.) Metropolis (2001) -This movie was my very first anime DVD I bought (all other stuff before it was on VHS ) Sci-fi with robots it's best. Engaging characters and a killer plot, it'll keep you on the edge right till the very end.
12.) Steamboy (2005) - Steam punk never fails to entertain. Big huge machines and the stories of the people that deal with them everyday. They take you on one wild ride and won't let up till they have served you well. I've always loved the dark and gritty feel that the animation gives off.
11.) Mind Game (2004) -Perfect title for a oh so messed up flick. It kept me wondering what on earth was going on all the way through, while visually stimulating my brain. Studio 4C never disappoints!
10.) Tokyo Godfathers (2003) - A baby, homeless people, Christmas, and trannies. What more could I ask for in a movie?! lol ok well it might not be for everyone but it makes for a great Christmas movie to watch with the family... No seriously... LOL
9.) Millennium Actress (2001) - Following the story of an old retired actress she give one last interview diving into her memories which are mixed with real and fake memories from her movies that she stared in. This movie was a wonderful surprise in how enjoyable it was considering the constant jumping around it did. A tad confusing at times but it delivers in telling this womans fantastic story in a creative way.
8.) Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008) - I'm a HUGE RE fan and when this came out I was never happier. Seeing the wonderful work the animators did was simply amazing. Had some cute jokes thrown in here and there for the fans as well. Who can say no to delicious zombies?
7.) Kara no Kyoukai (2007 - 2009) -The Garden of Sinners is an amazing story with drool inducing graphics. Just watch!
6.) Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (2006) - Sci-Fi, romance, and time travel! I think I have a thing for time travel as almost anything that has that element in it I end up liking. At first I thought it was just going to be a boring slice of life show but I was pleasantly surprised with how things turned out. The characters are all lovable and keep you wanting to watch to see what happens.
5.) Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade (2000) - Dark and deep this movie will keep you on your toes to guess what happens next. Shocking consequences occur for main characters that you soon won't forget.
4.) Nasu: Summer in Andalusia (2003) - Who would have thought a movie about cycling could hold such a fantastic story and keep me interested. Sure it's about Pepe riding a bike pretty much the entire movie but that is exactly what made it so special. If anyone can make something as boring as that entertaining I'm all for it.
3.) Oseam (2003) -A touching South Korean film filled with tragedy and adventure. I can not simply express how amazing this movie is. It touched me in a way that not many anime has been able to. It moved me to tears and I hope others get the exact enjoyment out of it that I did.
2.) Fullmetal Alchemist The Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa (2005) - The adventure continues and ends with this amazing movie from the FMA series. Sure some people didn't like how it ended or how it was done. But it certainly pleased me and I was glued to the screen the entire time I watched this movie as I didn't want to miss a single moment. I can re-watch this movie at anytime.
1.) Cowboy Bebop The Movie (2001) - Everyone's back and as entertaining as ever in this wonderful movie. I just sat back and enjoyed the ride in what this movie had to offer me. Lots of action, awesome characters, and a driving plot. It never fails to entertain no matter how many times I've seen it.
Look forward to the next in line for the decades list! My Top 60 Series of 2000-2009.
