chii Finally Made One!
Favourites are a great thing. What makes these shows mine is that I think about them very often when I'm thinking about anime and wish to watch them more than once. Some of them I've already watched 5+ times. To be a favourite they also must be entertaining as a whole series. So if they have season 2's or more, I should have loved them just as much as their season one. Everything on the list below applies! I've been meaning to make this kind of list for many years now and I've finally sat down and mulled through all my anime titles and picked these 100 to be my absolute favourites.
Like digitalboy I'll be updating this list regularly from now on but not once a month. I will only update when I feel an anime has stood up to my standards to break into this 100 anime list. I will keep a list at the bottom of this page which of which anime has moved in and which it has kicked out. I doubt that it'll happen very often but time will tell. Check out my Does Not Want List for a taste of my dislikes.

On the Seventh Day of Christmas My True Love Gave to Me: Seven Gundam Universes
On the Seventh Day of Christmas My True Love Gave to Me,
Seven Gundam Universes,
Six Macross Titles,
Five Delicious Openings,
Four Quirky One Shots,
Three Big Contenders,
Two Amazing Rivals,
and Char Aznable on a Horse
As another one of my goals for 2010 I said I wanted to watch ALL Gundam. I had only seen Gundam Wing way back in the day and I enjoyed what I saw. From then on I had always intended to watch the others. I started my year out making a huge list of The Gundam Universes for personal use. It took me quite a few days carefully tiptoeing around the internet searching for all the information but I did it. Throughout the year I have watched all titles on this list, except Seed because I was watching it with a buddy that disappeared for a while.
This project was a lot of fun for me honestly. I love space battles and there's plenty of that in Gundam. I love great characters and yummy politics for a pretend Universe. Real life politics only irritate me. I love hating on things and Gundam had a lot of that for me too. All around everything was just awesome!
The fairest way to honestly rate these would be in 3 groups. One will be for all the titles in the Universal Century Gundam. One will be for all the other Universe titles and the last will be all 7 of the Universes as a whole.
Universal Century Gundam
#1 Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
This one ended up my favourite because it was SO much like Macross Plus. Everything about it was well executed and it was just perfect.
#2 Mobile Suit Gundam 08th MS Team
It was short, exciting, and wonderful! The action and characters were just so well done I was taken by it completely.
#3 Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn
It might be the pretty graphics talking me into putting it here... But it's a good place for the moment since there are only 2 episodes out.
#4 Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
Ah there's too much to absolutely love about this series. It gave me such enjoyment while watching it. It was everything I wanted the first Gundam to be and more.
#5 Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO
These were a joy to watch! So pretty. MS IGLOO 2 for some reason wasn't as enjoyable as the first 2 were. I should re-watch to pinpoint that reason at some point.
#6 Mobile Suit Gundam
I really, really appreciate this for being the first one and all but I just couldn't get into it as quickly as I had hoped. I will say that the condensed movies were really great and I will be watching them again at some point.
#7 Mobile Suit Victory Gundam
There was a lot of death in this one. It certainly earns the title as the most depressing Gundam made. It's just too bad I didn't care about most of the characters... Gundam F91 was a great pre movie for this series though. It was delightfully twisted.
#8 Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
Nomnomnom hamburgers...
#9 Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ
HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE... I think you get the idea... Saving grace was Haman Karn... But even she couldn't save it...
The Other Universes
#1 Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (Anno Domini)
Gundam 00 was a pleasure to watch from start to finish. Even though it's S2 wasn't nearly as awesome as S1 I still was addicted. Hell S2 even managed to make me cry! Only 5 other anime have ever done this so that is an achievement in itself.
#2 Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (After Colony)
This was my first Gundam title and yes, I watched it on TV in English. I remember being blown away by it and even though a lot of fans hate it with a passion, I'll always cherish it because it popped my Gundam cherry. Everyone remembers their first time!
#3 Turn A Gundam (Correct Century)
HARRY ORD... Honestly enough said...
#4 Mobile Suit G Gundam (Future Century)
Shounen fighting meets Gundam! It's everything I could have asked for and more. Sides, who doesn't like seeing different countries represented by really weird Gundams?!
#5 Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (Cosmic Era)
I will admit that I've only seen 10 episodes of S1 so far. I'm fairly confident that it won't top the enjoyment I got out of G Gundam or any of the other higher series. It's ok so far but I've hear a lot of people telling me it is pretty bad. But it was a gateway Gundam for a lot of fans out there so it can't be all that bad... After all, I have fond memories of Wing and I am drawn to things that are bad anime wise...
#6 Mobile Suit Gundam X (After War)
Honestly all of the other Universes are pretty awesome except for Gundam X... I hate this one a lot...
All Gundam Universes
#1 Universal Century
#2 Anno Domini
#3 After Colony
#4 Correct Century
#5 Future Century
#6 Cosmic Era
#7 After War
