First Impressions of Spring Anime Batch 5
I was going to do 2 more posts for impressions but I decided to put them all together in one post. If you like to read what I thought about the other current airing anime this spring you can go HERE and follow the other links to get to everything. All Impressions are based on the first 2 episodes of the series.
Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei AKA The Tatami Galaxy
We follow Watashi as he remembers all the odd interesting times he had while he was in school. His goal was to find love and make lots and lots of friends. Each episode is a new adventure with 3 characters that are intertwined somehow by fate. I haven't quite grasped exactly what is going on with that yet but I'm interested to find out.
Aside from the super fast talking this anime is pretty interesting. It has unique animation that makes me think of Kuuchuu Buranko but I like this one a whole lot more because the theme is more suited to what I'm interested in. The OP and ED are nice and interesting. They complement the animation that goes with them very well. I'll look forward to more short adventures with Watashi as the series goes on.
Senkou no Night Raid
We're in China! Some people are sent in from Japan to carry out missions. It started off a little slow but once the girl started talking to her partners telepathicly my interest jumped in a whole lot more. Her partners have super powers of their own which is also quite interesting. So far it's just been mission after mission with some twists and turns in it along with a little bit of background. The characters I find are quite colourful and it gives off a Baccano! feel which is ok by me.
Animation is nice and clean. The images I find to be very pretty. I like the old feel it gives off for the time period as well. Then again 1919 is easy enough to pull off time period wise. Old cars and classy hats. The OP and ED for each episode are the same and with each different episode a different song is played. At least that's what it is like so far. (I sneaked and watched episode 3 and it is different so my theory is correct so far)
Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin
WOW! The very first episode wasn't anything amazing but it was amazing. Everything about it just clicked in a smooth way. It was subtle but very powerful telling what was going on. We meet 6 boys who are sent to prison. They are greeted with a strange doctor that pretends to be their "friend" but violates them in his sickly perverted own way. I don't like how they make the prison keeper look like a Nazi SS office. Like seriously, is that REALLY needed >.< Or maybe it's just the way I see him... Then again it is set right after WW2. They get tossed into a cell where we meet the last boy. He's a tough badass with a sharp tongue. After a fight between the boys they quickly learn that in there, they are the only ones that they can trust. They bond over a cigarette.
The OP I find to be too harsh at the beginning but once the metal screaming stops it settles into a fitting sound for the series. The ED is much better at giving off a feeling that the series brings. I love the animation. The stop and talk pictures I have always enjoyed. Simoun was another anime that did this very well and had a positive effect on me.
~~
Anime that have a Season 2 airing! Really short little blurbs about these ones because hey, why not?
Hetalia: World Series - It's Hetalia! I love it. Slower than it's other seasons at the moment but It'll get there. I can't wait for the movie coming out in about another month.
Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Tairan - Clearly only watching this because I have seen every other series attached to it. (actually not true I actually an enjoying it XD) Of course I NEED my romance of the three kingdoms fix as well. No matter how bazaar it is. XD So far it's matched up fine with all the other series it is related to.
Ookiku Furikabutte: Natsu no Taikai-hen - I found season 1 to be a little more interesting. I find it's moving really slow and that I don't care as much what happens. Still enjoyable though. Surprising since I don't like baseball anime too much but Ookiku Furikabutte is just somehow unique with it's characters that it keeps me entertained.
K-On!! - Really... Not going to bother with saying how much I find it boring. Oops just did.
Not watching Major... seriously one baseball anime is enough for me and catching up with 5 seasons while I *could* do it if I wanted to... I really don't want to. Ikkitousen I'm highly interested in but I haven't seen all the other seasons yet and probably won't get around to them in quite some time.
Just thought that I'd mention that I've officially dropped Kiss x Sis. Episode 3 was too much for me. I'll never understand why people like to see drooling like that in their anime. Hell I've seen hentai that does this kind of plot better. Less drool.
Working!! and SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors are the winners for episodic blogging for me this season! I know I'm behind but I'll catch up in no time

First Impressions of Spring Anime Batch 4
I've been a little slow at getting around to these ones for the season but here they are. If you wish to check out more impressions of spring anime you can go here. I'll be making 2 more posts of impressions so you can look forward to those. Each anime is reviewed on the first 2 episodes of the series.
Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru AKA Betrayal Knows My Name
Yuki has some sort of supernatural power that he can see people's pasts and emotions. He dreams of a past that he was part of quite often and wonders just why he was put in this world because he was abandoned as a child then randomly a man appears claiming to be his brother. Oh the bishie yaoi story is full of fantasy and mystery ain't it. More like teen angst trying to figure out his place in the world. I'll look forward to what will become of little Yuki but I wish it wasn't so slow. It felt like each episode was an hour long and it seems to be trying very hard to be interesting but falls flat right now.
The graphics are very pretty and make the show more interesting than it really is. The OP is well... Emo to me and the ED is just ok.
Mayoi Neko Overrun
The male lead I already want to kill. Did he really have to introduce every character in the show one by one like that in the first episode? Ahh his voice pisses me off too. While I do enjoy the cat aspect of this show and the food, (Both being things I totally love) I can't get over everything else that is so bad. Everything has been done before in this show and well some new stuff do it better some do it worse. This one is definitely doing things worse and reminds me just why I hate harem's so much. Everything is just so generic.
I wish the show focused more on the Stray Cats pastry shop than it does because to me that is the unique part and the most interesting. Harem anime will always be character driven though so we won't see much development in the other aspects of the show. Anyway I don't really have much else to say. Animation is average, OP and ED are forgettable like most from harem anime are. Cat girls are fun.
Sarai-ya Goyou AKA House of Five Leaves
Right away the show dives into the OP and I really enjoyed that. The music mixed with the lovely unique design was very beautiful. We follow Akitsu Masanosuke, a skilled and loyal swordsman but he has just one problem. He's very timid and this gets him fired from many of his protecting jobs. After all you gotta look and be scary in order to protect people right? Lucky him the leader of a bandit group called The Five Leaves hires him to be his bodyguard. But what the leader is of course trying to do is get Akitsu to join The Five Leaves group too. The only problem is that Akitsu isn't quite alright with the groups way of making money. Kidnapping isn't all that noble after all. There's adventure to it and that draws Akitsu to this group I think.
I find this show very refreshing. It's a real down to earth samurai show with mystery and great characters. Even the nobody's in the show seem to have a purpose. I look forward to seeing this story fold out. This is one of the best shows of spring anime for me.

First Impressions of Spring Anime Batch 3
3 more first looks. If you missed any of my other impressions of spring anime you can go here and here. Impressions for these are based on the first 2 episodes of the anime.
Arakawa Under the Bridge
A girl who thinks (who knows maybe she really is) an alien who lives under a bridge, a business man who depends on no one, a guy that dresses up like a Kappa, and many more strange people that we are still meeting = Simply hilarious. It's like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei but way more hilarious (Yes I know they are made by the same people). I love how Nino eats her fish. I know how weird that is to say but it's just something about her that makes her more awesome to me.
The OP is a lot of fun and the ED is too. Not hard on the ears at all. I'd put them on my play list. The animation is pretty but in that weird way. It always keeps you looking to see what weird thing they are going to do next. I'm definitely enjoying this one and can't wait to see more. It's random and very fun.
Hime Chen! Otogi Chikku Idol Lilpri
Magical girls need to save fairy land. They get some help from crystals and cute (really annoying) little magical animals. Their weapon of attack is to sing and dance! This will make people feel good and somehow this will save fairy land. LOL Just like almost every magical girl series out there aimed at really young girls. It's cute but it's not me at all because I generally don't like these kind of anime because the singing drives me nuts (Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch >.<). With that said though oddly the OP didn't make my ears bleed. Yet the voice acting seems really off to me. Almost like bad acting honestly. If I had to choose which girl I liked the most it would be Rei (the purple one) her outfit is something I would wear.
Kiss x Sis
Where the ova was slow and mainly focused on the perverted side of things, the series is uber fast and while it does perverted too it's not quite as "thrilling" as the ova was. We were rushed through characters and their introductions felt fuzzy. The only thing people need to know is that these twins have a brother and they want to bone him but he is reluctant to give in to their temptations because well they are related. I can hear the cries of every male with this fantasy wanting to murder him and take his place while I watch it. I feel that this anime is just doing whatever it wants when it wants to make the viewer go WTF?! It does that very well. I will admit I laughed at the vegetable part. Only anime could make washing a eggplant try to look erotic. What she did with the cucumber later was pretty funny too.
Not much else to say here. If you need/like fanservice like this go nuts. I'd like it a little more if it was tastefully done like Futakoi Alternative was.

First Impressions of Spring Anime Batch 2
Here comes Batch 2! Impressions based on 2 episodes. Check out my other impression post if you missed it.
Angel Beats
I tried to like it I honestly did. It is very different from what Key normally does but... For one I don't like their character design. While some people think it's the prettiest ever I just think it's average and well their design almost makes me dislike them even more because it looks the same as everything else they've done. Episode 1 was a jumble and so was episode 2. I do see the appeal to the show but it just isn't for me. People have been comparing it to The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya because the main characters basically look and act alike. Although Otonashi is way less irritating than Kyon was. I do see that relation between the 2 shows. The lead girls Yuri and Haruhi are pretty darn close to being twins.
I like the idea of their weird world where they after dying becoming angels that fight for their futures as angels. Or something like that anyway. I just wish it was more appealing to me. The OP I find to be annoying only because there are vocals in there, otherwise it's quite nice. The ED is forgettable. I should decide if I want to drop it or not.
Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan
Bishies, bishies, bishies! With swords and a cute girl. A girl who is pretending to be a boy because she wishes to find her missing father. She gets picked up by the Shinsengumi because she just happened to see them fighting some demon people. They want to kill her but of course they don't cause they listened to her story. I'm enjoying this one so far but I hope it actually starts getting a little interesting with the action. It started off well but got super chatty. I am interested to see where it goes but I hope it doesn't become boring character wise or even plot wise.
The graphics are crisp, clear, and very pretty. The OP was rather nice. I really liked the beat and the visuals that went along with it were quite nice. ED is quite nice too.
Giant Killing
I honestly don't have much to say about this one. It's about soccer (football). It's not amazing but it doesn't suck at all either. It has a very interesting style to it and I like that they seemed to have gotten someone that can speak English properly for the English gent that appears from time to time. Tatsumi takes on the task of making a shitty team good once more. It shall be a fun watch as long as it doesn't bore me too much.
This OP is AWESOME! The ED was pretty good too but I like the OP more.

First Impressions of Spring Anime Batch 1
For a good 2+ weeks now I've been putting off starting this new season. Why? I suppose I just wasn't motivated enough. Nothing really interested me all that much from the spring pickings save for a few shows honestly. SD Gundam, Hetalia, Working, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms <- which hasn't been touched by anyone yet
are the only things I've gone out of my way to watch.Things have been a little hectic in my personal life but since that has calmed down a little I find I have some free time to actually start up these shows. All these anime are first impressions based on the first 2 episodes of the series.
Heroman
I can't get over how much our hero Joey looks like a chick. It's the hair! He builds this adorable little robot. While he was building it I couldn't help but to picture many gundam crazed fans sitting in their rooms building their own robot men. Kinda cute when I think about it that way. It's always been a hobby that has interested me but I have never really ventured into it because while I do like mecha's and all, I don't like them enough to sit still for hours doing detailed work. So back to this robot. It ends up coming to life after getting a little wet and struck by lightening. Joey gets something that looks like a controller of sorts attached to his arm and their story begins.
Aliens that are called Skrugg are of course attacking earth and little Joey is going to end up fighting them with his robot dude. I laughed when the Americans didn't really react when these giant aliens came around and just said you need a permit to make movies here. LOL His cheerleader chick friend Lina, is really huge. Maybe that's just me though.
I gotta say I do enjoy the music throughout the show. The OP and ED are kinda forgettable but it is nice not to hear squealing girls singing for once. The visuals aren't all that terrible either. I'm not all that interested in the characters but it's fun. It's not as bad as I thought it would be but it really isn't amazing either. Just another action romp that is very American feeling. It's giving me the feeling of the movie Iron Giant, which was a really awesome movie and I suggest checking it out if you haven't seen it already.
B Gata H Kei
Ohhh what can I say here... That opening part explaining about the main chick Yamada and her goals was... Special. That fairy thing all throughout the episodes was really annoying. I haven't read the manga for it but I don't think it made the translation to anime very well. The way it's done just rubs me the wrong way. It makes me feel like I'm reading a shoujo manga. A really boring one. Poor Kosuda ends up being the one that she has her eye set on to "pop her cherry". She doesn't quite understand how anything about this works though so what ends up happening is messy situation after another.
I honestly feel really sorry for Kosuda. With his dumbfounded ways and her weirdness... It's a terribly painful match to watch. I do enjoy that each episode is split into 2 different stories though. It makes it feel like the episode goes by a lot faster. heh
This is just another generic slice of school life with your pervertedness to it. Only difference it's the chick being the pervert. Meh it's watchable but barely. I wish I found it more funny. It definitely gives off the smutty manga feel with the sexual topic and the way it is presented visually.
Kaichou wa Maid-sama
Well the main lead already started to irritate me as soon as she entered the screen. Misaki has a job at a maid cafe and for personal reasons she wishes to keep it a secret from her classmates. Of course she gets found out by a fellow classmate, Takumi, and now she must befriend this guy in order to keep her secret. Cliche story but it's one that I generally don't mind. Hello Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu.
If she wasn't such a bitch all the time I think I could get deeper into this show. Time will tell if this changes for the better or worse. I do like the dude though. Guess a small part of my girly side is coming out for him. He's kinda cute. I like that the boys stand up to her a lot instead of cowering like little fools, which is what happens in most anime. There's cosplay for both boys and girls in this one so even dudes that watch this show shall be entertained along with ladies that wish to drool over Takumi.
The OP and ED I find to be really cute song and visuals. The animation is really pretty too some weird faces here and there but they don't go overboard with it like some anime tend to do. Characters are slowly coming to fruit and I like what I see except for the bitchiness. I'm going to enjoy watching this one.
Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou
Wanting to be the total opposite of a Demon King Sai Akuto begins his magic school training in hopes that no one will fear him because of this prediction. Hattori Junko and he meet before school started and he tells her his dream, liking that dream she pledges herself to him. But if they go against what they say they will do they shall fight to the death or something. Of course having the prediction that he'll become a Demon King makes her very angry and the fighting starts.
There's a lot of interesting characters starting out in this show which will be interesting to see how they all come together. Along with boobs, panty shots, and magic of course. The OP and ED are kinda boring but they are different from most anime with the rock sound which is ok by me. I'd like it more if it wasn't going to be another harem school life anime. Maybe if it was just about his struggle with becoming demon like. It feels like Omamori Himari but without a catgirl. Then again there's always time for one to show up.

Baka to Test to Shokanju 05-07
Baka to Test is the greatest surprise of the season for me. This post will just contain some amusing pictures and a few comments here and there. I split it into 2 parts as well because it was just too big with all the pictures to put into one.
These 2 pictures are one of the funniest parts that have started to show up in the series over several different episodes. hehehehe
Where we left off with the yaoi fun in episode 4 we must pick up with yuri fun in episode 5.
Pool clean up time. This episode was one of the best pool/swimming (beach) episodes I have ever seen. It actually made me laugh from start to finish and I think I'll be re-watching it at some point because it was just that awesome. It also has inspired me to make a post about these kind of episodes in anime. (to come at a much later date)
We leave the pool to go have a bath. Now every bath episodes in anime generally have lots and lots of fanservice for males. But oddly I fount to be highly entertained by all the naked men trying to sneak a peek at the ladies.
We follow Shouko and Yuji to a random trip to the amusement park. A lovely date idea for one that has fallen in love. Too bad it's just a one sided love on Shouko's part. Very hilarious and we truly get to see a little more of Shouko's crazy lovestruck side for Yuji. Maybe a mock wedding can change his mind? XD Probably not.
Bride to be time!

These 2 were always in the way for Yuji and Shouko throughout the entire episode and even made Shouko feel really bad about her feelings.

Baka to Test to Shokanju 08-12
More of the same old same old but this time we get to see a Code Geass and Evangelion parody. Quite entertaining.
Sister sudden appearances. Never been a fan of this cause it's too predictable. But she is a treat to see because of her hilarious moments. I wouldn't expect anything less from this anime.
Love letters seem to be really popular in Japan still. I can't say I have ever received such a letter or even wrote one myself. Himeji writes said love letter but it ends up floating around from person to person. Luckily never opened. Yet...
The next subject is every students dream. The big test is coming up and the answers are available for all to see before the test actually begins. The only thing is... It's not suppose to be in circulation!
More classroom battles continue to go on. Class F always pick weird rewards when they win I find. Must be part of a bigger plan for sure. That Yuji is a clever one even though he's stuck in this low class. At the end of the episode Yuji proclaims that he wishes to show that grades aren't everything which is why he continues to fight. I love it. Yuji is awesome.
Yuji decides it's time to try and take class A down with the help of all the other classes of course. Even if they don't know it! The class battles are so much fun to see. I actually find myself rooting for class F to win all the time. With one episode left I can't wait to see how it turns out for this crazy bunch of students.
Darn it! So close! I can't wait to see what happens in the final episode.

Chu-Bra 12 END
Haruka immediately starts freaking out after she learns that Hayama is leaving. She goes on to say they aren't friends anymore and that it's the end of the underwear club... WTF? Where did all that random anger come from? I understand learning that your best friend is leaving, at that age, is a big thing, but gees talk about blow way out of proportion. So about 15 minutes of the episode is about her being butt hurt about Hayama leaving and how Komachi, Kiyono, and especially Yako can make the girls make up before Hayama leaves for good.
Because of this boring issue we are left with 5 minutes of actual good bye time. Uhhhg. At least that's something to be thankful for right? This episode was a real shitty way to end this series. Not that the series was amazing by any means but I was expecting the last episode to have a laugh or 2 in it like the rest of the series. No laughing here. Well maybe at the end about that Underwear Club for Men club that Komachi decided to start. XD
Anyway it's never a good sign when the viewer can't wait for the show to be over. I for one am very glad it was only 12 episodes as well. The plot of the show was "unique" in a way but not a very interesting one. (At least for a girl IMO) School clubs can be fun and all but one based around panties and bras is just a little weird for me. I probably wouldn't have been part of it if it was at my school.
The subplot was a little more interesting even if you had to dig through the panties to get to it. Growing up is something that everyone has done. Some grow up fast, some slowly, and honestly some never at all. It's something that everyone can relate to and think back to exactly what it was like for them. I know this show did that a little for me, but honestly isn't nothing like the memories that Hanamaru Youchien brings back to my surface. These memories are I suppose a little more depressing in a way. Where Hanamaru Youchien is full of joy and the discovery of being a kid without having to worry about these growing up problems.
The sound and animation were nothing but average to me honestly. The animation was slightly more impressive actually but not all that much. Things were drawn with cute details but I found it to be pretty fuzzy at times. The OP and ED are very forgettable and I couldn't tell you what the music was like throughout the show.
Characters are an on and off thing in Chu-Bra. Some episodes they are interesting and engaging while in others they are stupid and annoying. None of them stood out as being original which is fine and all but it would have been nice. I can't even say any left an impression on me other than Komachi. His struggle with the club, wanting to be first in the school grade wise, and plain old boy issues with panties everywhere was entertaining to watch.
Like I said in my character of the day overall for Komachi I wouldn't suggest watching this anime unless you have watched EVERYTHING else. Even if you are a fan of the genre it probably won't live up to your standards. I struggled to keep watching and boy I was glad when it was over because the enjoyment level just wasn't there for me. If anything go into this anime with no standards and you might be ok. I like panties and all cause everyone has to wear em, but I don't really need or want a 12 year old explaining why these articles of clothing are amazing.
- Story 2/10
- Animation 6/10
- Sound 5/10
- Characters 2/10
- Overall 1/10

Adventures with Naruto Part 3: Ninja tests take a long time
This adventure is from episodes 27-59. Basically about 4 arcs. I got happily surprised with a new OP. I hated the first one and would cringe if I heard even 10 seconds of it. Glad I'll never have to listen to it again.
The second exam ends and the third begins. But before it can start people need to be eliminated because there are too many that actually made it to the third round. So we get to sit around for 20 episodes while they do this. It's no wonder that the show is 220 because it takes them forever to do anything which is almost as bad as fillers. Luckily I haven't come up to those yet but I'm dreading it greatly.
41-42 bitch fight tie
43 another bitch fight
44-45 Naruto dog fight
46-47 clan fight
48-50 weird green man against emo dude
Those are the ones I remember XD I think there was 2 other fights before that but I can't remember cause... I watched them like 2 months ago and it wasn't very memorable. There is one last fight with Sasuke but my notes on it don't overly make sense yet again.
While they wait for exam 3 to begin Naruto starts a standing on water training. A weird dude that goes by the names, mountain monk, king of frogs or something will be training Naruto to learn summoning techniques. After many episodes Nartuo finally summons a giant frog who turns out to be a giant douche. Rather funny since the toad couldn't really believe that a kid like Naruto could summon him which is why he gave off so much attitude.
Since the summon technique is so difficult, Naruto ends up in the hospital because he used too much of his chakra. He slept for a long 3 days. During that time the sand boy gets all in their face (the teachers) and threatens to kill them all eventually as he runs off before he ends up dead because in fact the teacher had him cornered. Very odd thing to say as you are fleeing for your own life I must say.

"When I was a boy my father tried to assassinate me many times." D: no wonder he's so angry and weird.
The last episode I watched was the day before the third exam. I figured this was the perfect time to stop and take a rest. With more ninja tests to come I can only imagine how much longer it's going to take. I'm still not hating or even liking Naruto. Although I am leaning more towards disappointment because I find the pacing to be very icky.

Angry cows running after people make me laugh. What an entrance he makes to the stadium, the place of the third exam.

Ladies versus Butlers! & Chu-Bra 11
Ladies versus Butlers!
Loli Pina gives Akiharu a thank you ticket for two to Aqualand for helping her out with the doujin. He walks randomly to where the face off is happening and once he realizes that they are there at the fountain too he looks as dumbfounded as ever. Harem males are always so dumb...
Randomly they end up in a classroom to discuss their views. Croissant hair starts asking lots of questions about their date even though she knows most of it already. Akiharu walks in on them again but this time the tickets are in full view. Each girl clearly wants to go but the schemer starts playing her games when a random announcement by the oh so annoying one that gives the terrible speeches tells the whole school that there will be a sports meet. yay.....
As all relationships should be in anime, this one shall be decided through school sports... Different teams. One winner. Wild rumour start to go around at what the winner will get to do along with the looser. Let the games begin.
What is that fruitcake doing?
Watching these strange games is very very weird... What the hell is with the EELS?????? Eaten later by staff??? WEIRD!
Who will win Akiharu? XD
Chu-Bra
For once this anime shocked me in a good way instead of a bad one. The opening with the Revolutionary Girl Utena reference was LOL. Lots of anime this season sure have been putting their own take on some older anime.
The schools cultural festival is happening and the girls of the pantsu club help out other clubs because they technically can't be a part of it on their own. The drama club is putting on a play and they want Hayama to make the costumes and the other girls in the club to be in the play as well. They have all kinds of interesting costumes to go with it too. The cafe needs some maid costumes and they ask Hayama as well to do it for them.
Trouble unfolds as the bitch teacher finds out about Kiyono's photo shoot in the magazine and wishes to shut everything down because of it. Boob teacher pleads for her to go and look at the costumes that Hayama has made before making her judgment. Surprisingly she ends up loving the costumes and actually fends off a male teacher that suddenly appears to chew Hayama out.
After that happy ending with the show able to go on. Hayama finally tells the girls that she won't be around next year because of her brothers transfer. Kiyono knew all along and spilled it to Komachi. Komachi confronts Hayama about it and she begs him not to tell the others because she wants to let them know in her own way.
Will they really move in the next episode or not that is the question. I'm thinking something will happen so they won't have to. Or she'll be able to stay behind. I'd like it if they just moved on. Less chance of a sequel that way
Oh and yes there was some fanservice in this episode. Hayama just NEEDED to see Kiyono matching bra and panties. I will admit I think they are cute and would wear them myself.
