Not so Secret Santa: Joshikousei
This time it's a showdown between Digiboy and Otou-san! to see if I was going to enjoy Joshikousei or not. Digiboy was for and Otou-san against. This one was probably one of the funnest anime I could have gotten for my Not so Secret Santa Project.
Joshikousei AKA High School Girls is just what the title says it's about. A group of girls are making the leap into high school! They expect a grand and glorious change from their middle school days. While a change certainly is in store it doesn't really turn out to be the fairy tail they want. Girls are gross, crude, and crass when no one is looking! Joshikousei follows these girls and they, love, cry, live, and laugh at their experiences while growing up!
Digiboy Win: The girls and their gross dirty ways was hilarious.
Episode 1 and 2 showed this really well and then that idea kind of dwindled as the show went on but appeared now and then still in later episodes. Episode 2 was the oh so silly School Physical where one of the girls was trying to weigh less by balancing with one leg on a scale. Wouldn't balancing on a scale actually make you weigh more? You know... because you are putting all your weight plus into keeping your balance? XD I ended up asking a lot of strange question due to these girls antics.
Otou-san Win: The parody bits before the OP were awesome and generally the best part of the later boring episodes.
Any show that pokes fun at Maria-sama and Nana is AOK by me! Random pirates and gunfights are pretty cool too!
Digiboy Win: Most of the characters were amazing. Even the side ones.
All 6 of the girls the show revolves around brought something fun to the show. Sometimes it was logical, most of the time it was wacky and strange. Both were highly appreciated. Characters is where this show didn't let me down. Even if they were doing something I didn't care about I still found myself caring even if it was boring. Oddly enough I don't have a favourite one. They all were pretty awesome.
Otou-san Win: The middle episodes (5-7, 9, 10) were poo.
All these episodes were so boring I actually don't really remember much about them. I even took notes and those notes don't even make much sense... Not that my note taking is super amazing by any stretch. I was sad that episode 5 being a pool episode and 7 being a beach episode didn't have me in stitches with laughter. They really could have done much better with these 2.
Overall: HaHa BOTH WERE RIGHT!~ But Digiboy wins slightly more because in the end I did give the show a passing mark. Joshikousei is the little sister series to Seitokai Yakuindomo that aired in 2010. I highly suggest checking that anime out over this one for girls being crass and nasty if you haven't seen it already. Oh and I guess you could watch Joshikousei too if you haven't! I swear you won't loose "many" braincells!

Not so Secret Santa: Hitohira
Afraid, yet excited in a weird kind of way. Hitohira was picked by mefloraine for my Not so Secret Santa Project. I was most afraid by her pick because I generally dislike slice of school life shows to no end. Sometimes it's good to find enjoyment out of shows that you should generally hate.
Mugi Asai is a new student that basically gets drafted into Nono's Drama Research Society Club. The only problem is that Mugi is super duper shy, she has no confidence, and her catch phrase seems to be "I can't do it". The thing is she has an amazing voice and her acting is pretty darn good when she isn't nervous as hell. Nono sees this in her and wishes to push her to the limit to see what she can accomplish.
The OP makes me feel like I'm about to watch something extremely fluffy and girly. The ED is just there. It's not bad but it's just very forgettable. It honestly could be any old ending to a shoujo anime. The music in the anime it's self is very fitting and dramatic at the moments that suit it best. The art in general is quite lovely. Generally the pacing in the show is pretty steady. It sometimes it does dip into that slow boring lull that I just can't stand about this type of anime but luckily this doesn't happened too often.
Like all anime about school clubs and chilling out if the characters suck, the anime will suck too. This is not the case here. All the characters in this show are amazing. To even make things better there are actually two boys in the show that are around quite often! I really like their uniforms for some reason. They seem simple yet complicated. I dunno that's just how I feel about them. I'd love to have one to wear myself LOL I like that the club was a drama club and that we actually got to see the performance. It just wouldn't feel right if we didn't get to see it after watching all the hard work they put into it.
Nono was the best character in the show. Even thought she has an illness. I always think characters that are always ill in anime are a sad excuse for storytelling but luckily it didn't get in the way too much. Everything about her was fun. She has great drive to accomplish anything that comes her way no matter what stands in her path. She will just push and push. There is no can't only DO. So with that mentality of hers it was easy enough to make Mugi be the best that she could be, or at least to TRY. Honestly though everyone had a great roll to play in the series.
If there's one thing to take away from this anime it's just to do what your heart and willpower tell you to. Don't let anything stand in your way.

Baka to Test to Shokanju 05-07
Baka to Test is the greatest surprise of the season for me. This post will just contain some amusing pictures and a few comments here and there. I split it into 2 parts as well because it was just too big with all the pictures to put into one.
These 2 pictures are one of the funniest parts that have started to show up in the series over several different episodes. hehehehe
Where we left off with the yaoi fun in episode 4 we must pick up with yuri fun in episode 5.
Pool clean up time. This episode was one of the best pool/swimming (beach) episodes I have ever seen. It actually made me laugh from start to finish and I think I'll be re-watching it at some point because it was just that awesome. It also has inspired me to make a post about these kind of episodes in anime. (to come at a much later date)
We leave the pool to go have a bath. Now every bath episodes in anime generally have lots and lots of fanservice for males. But oddly I fount to be highly entertained by all the naked men trying to sneak a peek at the ladies.
We follow Shouko and Yuji to a random trip to the amusement park. A lovely date idea for one that has fallen in love. Too bad it's just a one sided love on Shouko's part. Very hilarious and we truly get to see a little more of Shouko's crazy lovestruck side for Yuji. Maybe a mock wedding can change his mind? XD Probably not.
Bride to be time!

These 2 were always in the way for Yuji and Shouko throughout the entire episode and even made Shouko feel really bad about her feelings.

Baka to Test to Shokanju 08-12
More of the same old same old but this time we get to see a Code Geass and Evangelion parody. Quite entertaining.
Sister sudden appearances. Never been a fan of this cause it's too predictable. But she is a treat to see because of her hilarious moments. I wouldn't expect anything less from this anime.
Love letters seem to be really popular in Japan still. I can't say I have ever received such a letter or even wrote one myself. Himeji writes said love letter but it ends up floating around from person to person. Luckily never opened. Yet...
The next subject is every students dream. The big test is coming up and the answers are available for all to see before the test actually begins. The only thing is... It's not suppose to be in circulation!
More classroom battles continue to go on. Class F always pick weird rewards when they win I find. Must be part of a bigger plan for sure. That Yuji is a clever one even though he's stuck in this low class. At the end of the episode Yuji proclaims that he wishes to show that grades aren't everything which is why he continues to fight. I love it. Yuji is awesome.
Yuji decides it's time to try and take class A down with the help of all the other classes of course. Even if they don't know it! The class battles are so much fun to see. I actually find myself rooting for class F to win all the time. With one episode left I can't wait to see how it turns out for this crazy bunch of students.
Darn it! So close! I can't wait to see what happens in the final episode.

Baka to Test to Shokanju & Sora no Woto – 03 & 04
Baka to Test to Shokanju is way more enjoyable then I thought it would be. I find myself laughing at every single episode. It's really refreshing for once to laugh at what actually is happening in the anime than just laughing at the anime it's self.
While these two episodes did make me laugh a lot it has detached it's self from school battles for the most part and started focusing on romance. While seeing our main lead boy in a love triangle situation and his supporting male being hounded by a chick that will not take no for an answer is highly amusing, I hope we get back to what has made me like this show which is the school classroom battles.
I can't wait to see what comes next in this wacky fun anime.
Sora no Woto, Kanata plays bad again... and they eat a lot of food... again. I'm not sure how people find this interesting but at least it's pretty to look at. All the girls but Kanata and Rio go out after breakfast. Soon after everyone leaves Kanata randomly gets a fever while she and Rio sit under a tree and talk about why they joined the military. Rio starts freaking out big time because of Kanata's fever. I assume in her past, her mother got sick and probably died. There's no other reason for her crazy reaction other than that for me. After her freak out she musters up some good thinking and goes to get some medicine.
Rio played Amazing Grace through the mecha that Noel has been working on to make Kanata feel better once she was able to walk around again. Kanata has a memory of someone she knew in her past playing it. The song made me remember that they also used it in Eureka 7 too. They showed some pretty scenery while the song played. If anything keeps me interested in this show it's the background. This small little town is pretty.
Next episode is probably my favourite yet. Mainly because they went out and actually did stuff. This time it's Kanata and Noel's turn to go out into the town. Their mission is to get supplies. They stop off at lots of stores and randomly meet a nun with some kids that Kanata meet when she first arrived to this place. One of the kids whose parents were killed by soldiers gets pissed off and runs away shouting how much he hates the military.
They go to visit a glasswork factory so get a part that old man Carl has been working on for Noel's mecha. She really wants to make it work and thinks that this one piece is key to doing so. They talk about the past machines and how if they were made back then, they should be able to make them now. I'm rather interested to find out exactly what happened to make this world turn back to a simpler time.
Even though almost nothing much happened again in this episode... I really enjoyed it. I think I'm in love with how pretty it is. I don't really care for any of the characters yet but this little town rocks!
